Welcome to White Hart Lane as midweek comeback kings Tottenham Hotspur host Birmingham City in Alex McLeish's first game in charge of the Blues.

Match Report

Tottenham host Birmingham City on Sunday afternoon with both clubs desperate to climb away from the relegation zone.

Spurs are now two points above the bottom three having gone unbeaten in November under new boss Juande Ramos.

Meanwhile, the Blues are just one point and two places above Sunderland in 18th position but have lost their last two games.

They will be relying on the new manager effect themselves, having appointed former Scotland boss Alex McLeish as the replacement for Steve Bruce earlier this week.

The 48-year-old had successful spells with Motherwell, Hibernian and most notably Rangers before spending less than a year with Scotland.

On the same day, caretaker manager Eric Black followed Bruce to Wigan to resume his role as assistant manager.

Bruce remains angry at the nature of his exit from the club, with the Blues refusing to let him leave late last week without returning some pre-paid image rights cash.

"Having been here six years and having certain promises taken away, like new contracts, it was disappointing," Bruce complained.

Quite what effect these developments will have on the team is yet to be seen, although with one win in their last nine games,
McLeish undoubtedly has a tough task ahead of him.

The Scot could have Cameron Jerome and Damien Johnson back in contention after injury, but he is expected to stick with a
similar team to that which lost 2-0 to Portsmouth last weekend.

Meanwhile, Spurs have defensive problems as Ledley King is still not ready to return from a long-term knee problem.

Younes Kaboul is struggling with a knock but could keep his place alongside Michael Dawson despite the error which led to West Ham's goal in the 1-1 draw last week.

The other end of Tottenham's team has been up for debate over the past week, with the battle between Jermain Defoe, Darren Bent, Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane continuing.

Bent spoke out about his efforts, saying: "Keano has had a fantastic start to the season. It's me, Berba and Jermain fighting for the second spot."

However, Defoe could return to the squad after missing Thursday's UEFA Cup clash with Aalborg with a cold.
