Match Preview

Blues hopeful on Fahey Birmingham hope to welcome back midfielder Keith Fahey for the visit of Crystal Palace The Republic of Ireland international has missed City's last three games against Cardiff, Doncaster and Burnley with a groin complaint but returned to full training on Thursday. Defenders Stephen Carr (knee), Jonathan Spector (thigh) and Pablo Ibanez (hamstring) all remain unavailable, although the latter pair continue to make good progress and could well return after the Easter programme. Blues strengthened their grip on a play-off place by winning their game in hand at Turf Moor in midweek, sealing back-to-back 3-1 victories. Manager Chris Hughton could however be tempted to rest a couple of his players against Palace with Easter Monday's trip to promotion rivals West Ham in mind, with the likes of Erik Huseklepp, Andros Townsend and Nathan Redmond pushing for recalls. Paul McShane will miss out again for Crystal Palace. On-loan Hull defender McShane has not yet recovered from the hip injury he suffered during the 1-1 draw with Doncaster last week. With fellow centre-half Anthony Gardner ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a hamstring injury in the same game, left-back Dean Moxey will again partner skipper Paddy McCarthy at the back. Midfielder Mile Jedinak is another who will not play again this season due to a groin injury. Boss Dougie Freedman may make changes after the 3-0 home defeat by Nottingham Forest on Saturday, with Darren Ambrose, Jonathan Williams, Jermaine Easter and Chris Martin all pushing for recalls to the starting line-up.
