Right-back issues for Blues Birmingham face a selection poser at right-back for Saturday evening's home clash against Barnsley. Paul Caddis, who has been impressive since arriving on loan on deadline day, dislocated his shoulder in Tuesday's 2-1 win over Bolton and has been ruled out for the immediate future. Club captain Stephen Carr is already sidelined for up to six months having been forced to undergo surgery on his troublesome knee. That means Curtis Davies could step in at right-back while midfielder Jonathan Spector could also drop back, promoting fit-again Keith Fahey off the bench and into the middle of the park. Midfielder Darren Ambrose (thigh) will again be assessed having missed the last three matches. Towering striker Nikola Zigic was omitted from Lee Clark's matchday 18 in midweek and the Serbian will hope to regain his place for the 5.20pm kick-off. Barnsley's summer signing Toni Silva could make his first appearance for the club. The former Liverpool winger has been sidelined since arriving at Oakwell due to knee ligament damage, but has been building up his match fitness with the development squad and may start on the substitutes' bench. But another teenager, defender John Stones, has been ruled out due to the ankle injury sustained in a heavy tackle by Dickson Etuhu in the midweek defeat at Blackburn and Craig Davies is nursing a groin strain, but should resume up front. Manager Keith Hill will be forced to reshuffle his defence and hinted at a place in his starting line-up for David Perkins, who replaced Stones at Ewood Park. Goalkeeper Luke Steele is back in contention for his first appearance of the season following a long-term groin/stomach problem and winger Matty Done (knee) is pushing for a recall. Bobby Hassell sits out the final game of his three-match ban, fellow defenders Jim McNulty and Rob Edwards (both hamstring), midfielder Jim O'Brien (dislocated shoulder) and striker Mido (ruptured hamstring) all remain long-term absentees.
