Birmingham City substitute Cameron Jerome maintained his side's unbeaten away league record with an equaliser 15 minutes from time against Burnley at Turf Moor. After an opening quarter during which there was plenty of endeavour but few chances, Burnley took the lead on 25 minutes as Graham Alexander fed Martin Paterson and his far post cross was headed down past City keeper Maik Taylor by midfielder Chris McCann. The same player had another opportunity just two minutes later as Alexander's free-kick was headed just wide by McCann. Wade Elliott got to the b-line five minutes before the break and crossed to the far post but Joey Gudjonsson's header lacked the power to beat Taylor. Just prior to the interval, Elliott again crossed to the far post where Steve Thompson sent a diving header wide. After being tormented in the opening half, City left-back David Murphy was replaced at the interval by Franck Queudrue. Ten minutes into the second-half, Elliott was again teasing the Birmingham defence and fired the ball against the top of the crossbar. Up to this point little had been seen of the visiting attack, but striker Kevin Phillips did place a shot wide of the target after 56 minutes. Burnley substitute Robbie Blake teed the ball up perfectly for full-back Michael Duff but he placed his shot just wide of the target. It was something of a surprise when Birmingham equalised with a swift counter-attack from a Burnley corner as substitute James McFadden was sent clear of the defence and, although goalkeeper Brian Jensen blocked his shot, the ball ran kindly for Jerome to equalise. Four minutes later, Jerome had a shot deflected into the hands of a grateful Jensen. But it was the home side who almost snatched all three points in stoppage time as Elliott again got to the byline and crossed to the far post where McCann glanced a header wide.
