Berwick boss hopes opposite number keeps off the pitch League leaders Berwick hope to add to their squad ahead of the clash against Arbroath. Manager Jimmy Crease, however, is keeping the identity of the potential new arrival secret, admitting only that he is a First Division player. Midfielder Stuart Callaghan is still not available following his ankle break and the best that Fraser McLaren can hope for is a place on the bench after a hamstring problem. And Crease is hoping to find counterpart Paul Sheerin beside him on the Shielfield touchline and not in the thick of the action come Saturday. He said: "I noticed that Paul came on as a substitute and helped win the game for Arbroath last week. "As far as I am concerned, the longer he is off the field the better it is for us." Arbroath boss Sheerin has seen Steven Doris return ahead of the clash but he could lose as many as five players. Winger Doris makes his comeback after summer surgery however Sheerin has already ruled out Keith Gibson, Alan Rattray and Jordyn Sheerin with David Dimilta and Robbie Ross also very doubtful. Former St Johnstone player Sheerin may be new to management but he has done his homework on the Borderers. He said: "Their strikers Darren Gribben and Craig O'Reilly are in fine form as is David Greenhill, who is the player that makes them tick in midfield. "They are an experienced side so a win would be a great result for us."

Berwick stay on summit Berwick stay top of the league with a Darren Gribben hat-trick securing a 4-1 win at home to Arbroath. The league leaders were 3-0 up inside the first half hour thanks to a Craig O'Reilly right-foot strike and a Gribben brace. O'Reilly opened the scoring after 21 minutes and Gribben volleyed home to double Berwick's lead on 24 minutes. Gribben scored again shortly after to cap of an impressive first half in which all the goals came in a seven-minute spell. Gribben continued after the break when he ensured the match ball was his with a drilled shot low into the bottom corner of the Arbroath net after 51 minutes. Arbroath managed to grab a consolation when Kieran McAnespie struck a 20-yard free-kick into the top corner in injury time, but his team were already beaten by a dominant Berwick performance.
