Match Preview
McCoist eyeing more signings Rangers manager Ally McCoist remains on course to make several more signings before the club's one-year transfer embargo kicks in at the end of the month. McCoist made his sixth capture since the Ibrox club secured an SFA licence when he brought in former France Under-20 international Sebastien Faure on Tuesday. McCoist, whose team continue their Irn-Bru Third Division campaign at Berwick on Sunday, said: "We're hopeful we can get four or five over the line before the window closes. "There are no signings imminent but certainly the wheels are in motion on three or four targets." Faure came in just as Dorin Goian left in a loan move to Serie B side Spezia but McCoist is hopeful only Maurice Edu will depart before next Friday, with USA captain Carlos Bocanegra still at Ibrox. "I'm led to believe the Maurice Edu transfer to Stoke is still ongoing," he said. "If and when that happens he will go with our best wishes, but I don't think there has been anything concrete done with that at the moment. "I've spoken to Carlos and, albeit he is struggling a wee bit at the moment with a hamstring injury, hopefully he can play on Sunday. "Him and I speak at great length, being the captain. He is where he is at the moment, and we are where we are and we're delighted to have him." Rangers have been linked with Birmingham midfielder Morgaro Gomis, formerly of Dundee United, and Malmo striker Daniel Larsson, but McCoist was unwilling to discuss players at other clubs. On Gomis, he said: "We haven't had any dealings with the club. He's a player we like but it would be unfair of me to speak about individuals." Rangers have doubts over Bocanegra for their Third Division clash at Berwick on Sunday. The USA defender has a hamstring strain but could play at Shielfield Park. Manager Ally McCoist could bring in 21-year-old French defender Sebastien Faure, who signed a deal on Tuesday. McCoist said: "He's an aggressive centre-back and can play in midfield as well because he's a good user of the ball. "So he's one we're delighted to get in and hopefully we can get him involved, if not at the weekend then next Thursday (Scottish League Cup second-round tie at home to Falkirk)." Meanwhile, Berwick boss Ian Little will finalise his team to face Rangers on Sunday once injury doubts Damian Gielty and John Ferguson have taken part in an extra training session. The Borderers' Dougie Brydon will feature despite picking up a suspected broken nose against Annan last weekend, however experienced striker Stuart Noble misses out with a hamstring injury. Little said: "We have set out our game plan to the players and told them how we want to play the game. It is a league game as opposed to a do-or-die cup tie and our tactics will reflect that. "We want to play in as natural a way as possible. The Third Division sides that have played Rangers so far have all emerged with credit and that is our aim first and foremost."
