Match Preview

Notman back for Rangers Berwick welcome back Steve Notman after a ban when Peterhead turn up at Shielfield with the Borderers' promotion hopes hanging by a thread. Chris McLeod remains out injured with boss Ian Little promising changes following their 2-0 defeat to bottom-side East Stirling on Saturday. Little said: "The defeat at the weekend was a hard one as we had chances but never took them. "I am looking for a positive reaction as we simply need a win to keep things going in terms of a play-off spot. "Three of our next four games are away from home and I want us to be going into them on the back of a win over a Peterhead side that will be looking to jump over us in the table." Peterhead goalkeeper Raymond Jellema is expected to don the gloves. Paul Jarvie is struggling with the elbow injury that saw him substituted in the 3-2 win over Annan at the weekend. Ryan Strachan returns from suspension, however Scott Ross is out injured and Rory McAllister is banned following his dismissal on Saturday, with David Donald in line to start after illness restricted him to a substitute's role at the weekend. Blue Toon manager Jim McInally is fed up with the `Jekyll and Hyde' nature of his side that are poor in the opening half before being alive in the second. He said: "We have to stop waiting for things to happen and then making them happen. We have to make them happen from the first whistle."

Match Report

Bavidge banishes Berwick Martin Bavidge's late goal was enough to see off Berwick 1-0 as Peterhead recorded a third straight league win. The visitors almost got off to the perfect start but for Jamie Barclay, who made a fine save from Bavidge's close-range header. Barclay's opposite number was called into action just before the interval, but Raymond Jellema was equal to Fraser McLaren's effort from the edge of the area. Chances remained few and far between in the second half, Conner McGlinchey up next to test Jellema just after the hour mark but he was denied by another good save. James Redman came close to breaking the deadlock eight minutes from time, but Barclay produced another good stop. The Borderers' keeper was finally beaten a minute later, though. Bavidge's header proved just too powerful as he picked out the top corner.
