Match Preview
Luisao switches focus to PSV Defender Luisao insists Benfica have already put the disappointment of their home defeat to Porto out of their minds as they prepare for the Europa League quarter-final first leg against PSV Eindhoven. The Dragons clinched the Portuguese Liga title with a 2-1 over their arch-rivals in the `classico' in Lisbon on Sunday as they extended their unbeaten run to 25 games. However, Benfica are still very much in the hunt for European glory, with Braga and Porto also looking to make it through to the semi-finals. And Luisao insists his side's focus has already shifted to their encounter against PSV. The Brazilian said: "One thing that has to remain very clear is that the last game is part of the past now. "It wasn't the result we wanted, but we are already working towards the next game now." "Benfica fans are loyal and we count on them to help us against PSV. "I hope they fill the stadium and support the team by giving their best. They can rest assured that we are working hard to send them home happy. Luisao added: "The squad have their heads held high and we are aware of the task at hand in this first leg. The whole squad will give their maximum on Thursday." Benfica and PSV have plenty of European pedigree, having met in the 1988 European Cup final, where the Dutch side won a penalty shoot-out in Stuttgart. PSV are enjoying a good campaign both at home and in Europe, despite dropping two points behind Eredivisie leaders FC Twente following defeat to their title rivals last time out. Fred Rutten's men impressed as they knocked Scottish side Rangers out in the last 16, and he has included youngsters Dries Wuyts and Stefano Marzo in the squad which left for Lisbon. Assistant boss Erik ten Hag took in the Benfica versus Porto game and knows the encounter will be no easy ride. He said: "They are a typical southern European team, with plenty of Brazilian influences, but play at a much faster pace. "They are very functional with what they do with the ball, switching it quickly between the lines."

Match Report
Four-star Benfica too good for PSV Javier Saviola rounded off a fine night for Benfica with an injury-time strike as the Portuguese giants claimed a 4-1 first leg advantage over PSV Eindhoven in their Europa League quarter-final first leg. Saviola smashed the ball into the roof of the net in a potentially-decisive finish to the match after PSV looked to have clawed their way back into contention with an 80th-minute goal from Zakaria Labyad. Until Labyad gave PSV hope 10 minutes from time, Benfica largely dominated with Eduardo Salvio's two strikes either side of half-time adding to Pablo Aimar's opener seven minutes before the break. Benfica should have been ahead after seven minutes when Saviola hit the post, and the same player came agonisingly close with a neat lob over PSV keeper Andreas Isaksson minutes later. PSV came close when Balazs Dzsudzsak sent in a superb cross from the left flank and Marcus Berg got in above the static Benfica defence but could only head the ball wide with the goal at his mercy. Aimar swept Benfica ahead when he struck a shot through Andreas Isaksson's legs and the home side added their second just before the break when Salvio scored after superb work from Fabio Coentrao. It took only seven minutes of the second half for Salvio to grab his second, when he beat two men in the box before firing home. Oscar Cardozo came close as Benfica looked in good shape to move even further in front. They looked set to pay for their failure to get a fourth when PSV finished strongly and grabbed their away goal when Labyad - who had only been on the pitch for 30 seconds, poked home after a Jeremain Lens effort was parried into his path. But just when the second leg looked a distinctly healthier option for the Dutchmen they reckoned without Saviola whose brilliant finish leaves his side well in control going into the second leg.
