Bees waiting on Kabba Steve Kabba needs a fitness test ahead of lowly Barnet's clash with high-flying Southend. The striker missed Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Hereford with a swollen knee and remains a doubt. Boss Lawrie Sanchez's attack was further depleted by Charlie Taylor's ban for spitting, and he will be out for a further two matches. Danny Senda is expected to miss out again with a groin problem so Jordan Parkes should continue at right-back. Parkes returned from an ankle injury at Hereford while forward Ricky Holmes was also passed fit after concussion, and both came through unscathed. Mark Byrne and Lloyd Owusu will come into the reckoning if Sanchez opts to make changes after his side slipped to second from bottom. Southend could have midfielder Lee Sawyer available. The former Chelsea trainee has fully recovered from a thigh injury but failed to make the squad that beat Torquay 4-1 on Saturday. Paul Sturrock has now overseen seven straight victories, while his side are also on an eight-game unbeaten run. With the Shrimpers now sitting in second place in the table, Sturrock will take heart that striker Barry Corr (knee) is his only long-term injury concern. Forward Liam Dickinson brought his goal tally in the league up to five with a powerful drive against the Gulls, and will expect to lead the line alongside veteran striker Neil Harris. However, midfielder Kane Ferdinand may be pushed forward after bagging a brace on Saturday, with Sturrock saying: "He's a natural finisher. He has that ability and that's why I've been encouraging him to get into the box more."

Shrimpers sting Bees to stay second Southend maintained their nine-match unbeaten streak with a 3-0 win against 10-man Barnet. First-half goals from Ryan Hall and Bilel Mohsni put the Blues in control before home defender Darren Dennehy was sent off for a second bookable offence 20 minutes from time. Neil Harris wrapped up the convincing victory late on. Barnet should have taken the lead in the fourth minute but, after Mark Phillips had felled Dennehy, Izale McLeod fired his penalty over the crossbar. Hall opened the scoring after 15 minutes, beautifully controlling Peter Gilbert's lofted free-kick on his chest before firing his fifth goal of the season past Liam O'Brien. It was 2-0 after 35 minutes when Mohsni ghosted in at the back post to tap home. After initially disallowing the goal, referee Andy Woolmer changed his decision. Barnet fought back in the second-half but, when Dennehy was dismissed for hauling down Hall, the game was up. Harris tapped in the third after 85 minutes to keep the Shrimpers two-points behind league-leaders Crawley.
