Match Preview

Jarvis returns to boost Bees Rossi Jarvis is in line for a return as Barnet face a crucial match against fellow strugglers Morecambe. The 22-year-old midfielder missed the Bees' 2-1 win over Hereford after being shown a red card in the previous match. Southampton loanee Anthony Pulis could retain his place in the side if Jarvis is not handed a start. Striker Steve Kabba is nearing fitness following a hamstring injury, but is not likely to feature. In his absence, Izale McLeod will continue up front as he looks to add to his nine goals this season. Barnet surrendered a two-goal lead to end up with a point when the two sides met at the Globe Arena in September. Morecambe have been boosted by the arrival of Blackburn winger Zac Aley ahead of the trip. The 19-year-old has moved to the Globe Arena on an emergency loan until the end of the season. He has yet to make his first-team debut for Rovers but has scored two goals in 12 appearances for the club`s reserve side this season. Shrimps boss Sammy McIlroy again looks set to be without goalkeeper Barry Roche because of a thigh injury. Joe Anyon will therefore line up between the posts again as McIlroy`s men bid to ease their relegation fears. Defender Paul Scott is stepping up his fitness but is set to remain absent as he recovers from a knee operation.

Match Report

Carlton at the double for Morecambe Danny Carlton marked his return to Morecambe with a first-half double to leave Barnet deep in relegation trouble and give the Shrimps some breathing space with a 2-1 win. The 27-year-old striker rejoined Morecambe last month after being released by Bury and made the most of some poor set-piece defending to score twice in 10 first-half minutes after Mark Byrne had given the home side the lead. Loan signing Sam Deering's cross was only half cleared by Chris McCready and Byrne duly turned in his fifth goal of the season after 20 minutes. But Barnet's inability to deal with a Stewart Drummond free-kick cost them as Carlton stole in at the back post to nod home. And with three minutes to go before half-time Carlton scored his second, knocking in from close range as the Bees again failed to deal with a Drummond delivery. James Spencer should have put the visitors out of sight early in the second half before Morecambe goalkeeper Joe Anyon produced a great save to deny Charlie Taylor a late equaliser.
