McKinnon in for debut Third Division leaders Alloa have brought in Ross McKinnon on loan from Motherwell ahead of their home clash against Montrose The left-sided defender has moved straight into manager Paul Hartley's squad as a replacement for Kevin McHattie, who has returned to Hearts. Ross McCord is out through injury, with brother Ryan unavailable due to a one-game ban. Hartley said: "We played really well when we won 4-0 at Stranraer last weekend. And we will need to show that form again against a Montrose side who have given us two really tough games already. "They have good players in their squad but we are in a good position just now and should be looking to build on it." Montrose will only be missing winger David Di Milta for the clash. Di Milta is sidelined with an ankle injury, with boss Ray Farningham set to freshen up his side after a disappointing display against East Stirling last weekend. And Farningham is hoping for better luck in Clackmannanshire that his men received on their last visit. "We played really well down there and scored two goals when the score was level. Both were chopped off and we remain convinced they should have stood, and what made it worse was that Alloa made the most of things by winning the game 4-2," he said. "I am also expecting a reaction from my players following last week's performance which was not good enough."
Match Report
Leaders leave it late Alloa scored two late goals to secure a 2-0 win over Montrose and maintain their position at the top of the table. Ross McKinnon fired home the first in the 87th minute before Stephen May sealed the win at the death. In a game of few clear-cut chances, Montrose goalkeeper Michael Andrews saved well from May in the opening stages while Steven McNalley went close for the visitors after the break. Gable Endies defender Jonathan Smart headed Douglas Cameron's right-wing corner over the crossbar with just under 20 minutes remaining before substitute Armand One somehow fired over from six yards at the other end. Athletic made the breakthrough when McKinnon rifled Ross McCord's cross from 20-yards and May made the points safe in the final minute with a drilled close-range finish following One's headed through ball.
