Bury extended their unbeaten league run to eight games after a 2-0 win over high-flying Barnet at Gigg Lane.
The excellent Nicky Adams scored two and Glynn Hurst grabbed the other as the Bees' own ten-game unbeaten streak came to an abrupt end.
There was little to choose between the two sides throughout the early stages but Barnet did have the ball in the net on 17 minutes.Liam Hatch powered a header into the corner of the net from Ashley Carew's right-wing corner but the referee spotted a foul in the build-up and the visitors were back to square one.
As the game wore on, Bury began to play with far more confidence and Hurst really should have put them ahead when he was sent one-on-one with Barnet keeper Lee Harrison.
He seemed to have all the time and space he needed but succeeded only into lashing his effort into the side-netting.
But the Bury hitman quickly atoned for his error, poking home a delightful cross from Adams to put the Shakers ahead on 31 minutes.
The tricky Adams then almost doubled his side's lead just minutes later, flashing a shot wide of the post from 25 yards.
And the Shakers moved up another gear after the break, tearing into Barnet straight from the off.Andy Mangan missed a glorious opportunity, blasting wide when unmarked, but it mattered little as Adams raced onto a pass from Hurst before finishing expertly to make it 2-0.
Bury threatened to run riot and Adams shot wide from Mangan's cross when it would have been easier to find the net.
Barnet manager Paul Fairclough made a triple change during the second half in a bid to change things, but Adams made sure late on with an assured finish.
