Match Preview

Walsh to make debut Barnet boss Mark Stimson has signed Phil Walsh ahead of the club`s home clash against Burton. The powerful striker arrives on a month`s loan from Dagenham & Redbridge and provides much-needed cover for Steve Kabba who was stretchered off during the opening-day defeat at Chesterfield. It was initially feared the experienced frontman had suffered a broken leg but he has in fact only damaged knee ligaments and the Bees are hopeful he will not be sidelined for the long term. Right-back Joe Devera missed the midweek 3-0 Carling Cup defeat at Swansea with a leg injury and is rated at 50-50 to face the Brewers. Youngster Reece Yorke, who has been sidelined with a knee injury, was due to return to training on Friday. Veteran defender Darren Moore is set to return to the Burton side for the trip. Moore missed the midweek Carling Cup defeat in Cardiff with a slight knee niggle but is expected to be able to return at Underhill. Record signing Russell Penn could be asked to play his third different role in three matches as boss Paul Peschisolido looks for a first win of the season. Penn began the season last week against Oxford on the right of midfield, switched to right-back at Cardiff because Andy Corbett had a thigh injury and will play up front on Saturday. Corbett remains sidelined but central defender Tony James will move across to full-back. Peschisolido said: "Some of the boys wouldn't have got in until 3am on Thursday and it's not ideal to be making another long trip so soon."

Match Report

Stalemate at Underhill Mark Stimson earned his first point as Barnet manager after Burton held them to a drab stalemate at Underhill. New signing Mark Marshall offered an early threat for the Bees with his pace on the right but their first chance fell to Glenn Poole, whose speculative chip drifted over on six minutes. But the visitors gradually gained a foothold in the game as Greg Pearson's shot on the turn was deflected wide before he tested keeper Jake Cole with a low strike from long range midway through the first half. Barnet created a decent opening after half an hour when Ricky Holmes fed Mark Byrne but Brewers keeper Adam Legzdins denied the on-loan Nottingham Forest man before Burton went close when Cole saved well from Russell Penn's skidding 30-yarder. The best chance for the hosts did not come until the 50th minute when Holmes turned away from Darren Moore before seeing his curling effort brilliantly saved by Legzdins. Burton thought they had won it on the hour when Moore headed home Adam Bolder's corner, but the effort was ruled out for a foul Cole as the Brewers made it two goalless draws in two league games.
