Match Report
Paul Fairclough bowed out as Barnet manager with a much needed win as Albert Adomah's brace ended their run of 13 games without a victory.
Barnet's disastrous form has accelerated Fairclough's decision to move upstairs into the role of Director of Football and allow former defender Ian Hendon to take over.
But Fairclough, who has been at the Club for four-and-a-half years, will be stepping down with a heavy heart especially following this reversal of fortunes.
In an opening 20 minutes of little incident Barnet seized the initiative when a long punt up field was collected by Adomah who ducked inbetween two Bournemouth defenders before guiding a powerful finish past Shwan Jalal.
Bournemouth attempted to rally and came close on 37 minutes when Scott Guyett's dangerous cross was almost headed into his own net by Barnet defender Michael Townsend.
Townsend beat goalkeeper Ran Kadoch to the ball but directed his header all the way to the far post, where thankfully team-mate Ismail Yakubu was on hand to clear.
The home side went close again as Shaun Cooper's ball up field found Alan Connell running in space between defence and Kadoch but as he attempted to lift his finish over the Barnet goalkeeper it rolled tamely wide.
On the stroke of half-time Bournemouth went even closer when Kadoch punched Sammy Igoe's cross to the feet of Danny Hollands waiting on the edge of the penalty area but the midfielder's half-volley could only clip the top of the crossbar.
Bournemouth enjoyed plenty more possession after the break but with little cutting edge and were made to pay 20 minutes from the end.
Abu Ogogo won a strong challenge in midfield for the ball to find its way to Adomah who left Jalal on his back with a drop of the shoulder before firing into a virtually empty net, despite the best intentions of defender Jason Pearce attempting to clear off the line.
Connell was twice denied in stoppage time but Bournemouth's underlying problems are for all to see. Barnet on the other hand can now look forward to a new chapter under Hendon.
