Match Preview

McLeod set for first start Izale McLeod is pushing to make his full Barnet debut against Accrington. The former MK Dons and Charlton forward has made three substitute appearances since joining the Bees after recovering from a knee operation. McLeod could now be thrust into the starting line-up in place of Steve Kabba or Kevin Gallen as boss Mark Stimson looks for a return to winning ways following back-to-back defeats. Stimson is likely name an otherwise unchanged line-up from the side beaten at Oxford last week. On-loan midfielder Mark Byrne is still receiving treatment on a knee injury at his parent club Nottingham Forest and defenders Daniel Leach and Darren Dennehy (both foot), winger Glenn Poole (ankle) and striker Danny Kelly (hamstring) remain sidelined. Accrington travel to Barnet without midfielder Jimmy Ryan. Ryan suffered a hamstring injury in the 1-1 draw with Bradford and missed out on the FA Cup second round defeat at Port Vale. Joint top scorer Sean McConville (back) also misses out on the trip to Underhill with Andy Parkinson the likely replacement. Oldham loanee Joe Jacobson could slot in at left-back after completing 90 minutes on his debut against the Glovers. The Reds are still searching for an elusive first away win of the season.

Match Report

McLeod makes Stanley pay Izale McLeod marked his first Barnet start with a first-half double to give them a 2-0 win over Accrington. The 26-year-old striker, who had appeared just three times off the bench since joining in September, began his full debut with a bang by rifling home after 12 minutes. McLeod underwent knee surgery after joining Barnet but showed no ill-effects when he produced a low finish from George Francomb's free-kick. Stanley should have levelled when Terry Gornell, who earlier fired narrowly over from 30 yards, flicked the ball on to Charlie Barnett who shot wide under pressure With the visitors pressing for a leveller before the break, McLeod started and finished a rapid Barnet breakaway to give the hosts' breathing space. Clovis Kamdjo could have added Barnet a third but he fired wide from inside the six-yard box, before Ian Craney and Gornell both wasted chances to get Stanley back into the contest.
