Verbeek set to attack AZ Alkmaar coach Gertjan Verbeek has promised to go on the offensive as his side look to heap more Europa League misery on Dynamo Kiev. The Ukrainians have made a dismal start to their Group E campaign, drawing at home to Belarus' BATE Borisov before losing to Sheriff in Moldova. AZ were then hammered 4-1 by surprise group leaders BATE but Verbeek has promised not to hold back. "If you want to win, you must attack," he told his club's website. "We can ask Andriy Shevchenko shoot the ball into his own goal, but he is not going to. "The new coach of Dynamo Kiev (Oleg Luzhny) is still searching. The club is much changed but the strikers I've seen are dangerous." Verbeek has Maarten Martens and Hector Moreno back in contention for a starting place, while Gil Swerts and Adam Maher return to the squad. Weekend goalscorer Graziano Pelle is ineligible for European competition while full-back Ragnar Klavan joins Simon Poulsen, Rasmus Elm, Erik Heijblok and Celso Ortiz on the injury list. Luzhny, for his part, is missing Milos Ninkovic due to a head injury as he prepares for his first European match since taking temporary charge following Valeri Gazzaev's resignation on October 1. The two sides meet for the first time with AZ, who have lost just one of their last 39 home games in Europe, looking to extend a 100% record in their previous three meetings with Ukrainian opposition. Dynamo have won only once in Holland, a 3-1 victory over PSV Eindhoven in 1997, and have won only one of their last 11 away games in continental competition.

Kiev edge nervy affair Dynamo Kiev breathed life into their Europa League campaign with a narrow 2-1 win over AZ Alkmaar in Holland. With just one point from their two previous Group E matches, Dynamo found their form tonight to leapfrog their hosts with a first victory of the campaign. Artem Milevskiy put Dynamo in front just 16 minutes in and though Erik Falkenburg levelled, Yevhen Khacheridi restored the visitors' lead before the half was out. Niklas Moisander fired a warning shot in the opening minute but saw his 25-yard effort whistle wide. In the 16th minute, however, it was Dynamo who took the lead. Roman Eremenko made a foray down the right wing and when his cross arrived in the box, Milevskiy was on the spot to guide the ball home right-footed from close range. AZ struggled to come up with a response, only Brett Holman's speculative off-target effort representing a chance. The Dutchmen kept plugging away, though, Mauricio Jonathas being denied by Dynamo goalkeeper Maksym Koval at point-blank range with an impressive block. Just over 10 minutes from half-time, though, the scores were level as Falkenburg converted a left-footed shot from 12 yards. AZ looked to reach half-time at least level-pegging but just four minutes after levelling, they were behind again. First Eremenko tried his luck and saw Sergio Romero make a decent save from his 25-yard shot but in the 39th minute, Khacheridi found the net. Oleg Gusev floated in an inswinging corner from the left which Khacheridi met at the near post, timing his run well to head home. Dynamo veteran Andriy Shevchenko was taken off after 58 ineffective minutes on the pitch and there was barely a shot struck in anger in the first 20 minutes of the second half. That woeful period continued, broken briefly by Jonathas' header wide of the left post from Kolbeinn Sigthorsson's cross. In the 72nd minute Falkenburg had an effort which was cleared by Khacheridi from Stijn Schaars' right-sided free-kick. AZ kept plugging away, Dirk Marcellis also seeing an effort blocked from the periphery of the area before Pontus Wernbloom fired one wide in the 76th minute, but their efforts fizzled out as Dynamo left with the three points. Deep into added time, AZ's Moisander was sent off for a second booking.
