90mins

FULL TIME: FULHAM 3-1 ASTON VILLA. The final whistle blows and Fulham take a deserved victory from an end-to-end game that sadly fizzled out after Kamara grabbed Fulham's third.

90mins

Two minutes of added time are to be played and we are into them now.

90mins

Roy Hodgson makes his final alteration as Dickson Etuhu hobbles out of the action to be replaced by Olivier Dacourt.

88mins

Young finally manages to get the better of Paintsil for the first time in the half but his cross is easily claimed by Schwarzer.

86mins

Fulham are now making their second change as Clint Dempsey exits the field to be replaced by Julian Gray.

85mins

The hosts are getting a little sloppy at the moment and are gifting possession to the VIllains - it may not be as easy a last few minutes as was first thought if they can steal a goal.

83mins

Fulham are making their first change as Bobby Zamora replaces Erik Nevland.

83mins

All of a sudden players have begun to slip all over the field with Paintsil the latest to hit the deck allowing Carew to fire at goal but Schwarzer palms away.

80mins

The game is drifting towards the finish now as we enter the final ten minutes with Fulham in cruise control now - Villa look set to be the latest to leave the Cottage empty handed.

77mins

Villa have not got going at all in this second period. It appears that Roy Hodgson has plugged the gaps that the likes of Young were finding in the first half.

74mins

The pace and tempo of the game has slowed dramatically now that Fulham look to be cruising to the points as they are not throwing men forward anymore. This would be a fine win for the Cottagers.

71mins

Reo-Coker almost kickstarts a comeback with a fortuitous goal as Young's cross is smashed into the midfielder's chest by Aaron Hughes and loops onto the top of the net.

68mins

Villa may have made changes but the players look deflated now - the third goal has really taken it out of them and they are struggling to get Young and Agbonlahor in the game now.

65mins

That has forced O'Neill into a re-shuffle with Gareth Barry moving to left back now. While James Milner moves to right back and Agbonlahor to the right wing. I think that is everything...

64mins

Villa are making a double change as Nigel Reo-Coker and Emile Heskey replace Nicky Shorey and Luke Young.

61mins

All Fulham now as Hangeland bursts through from the back to try his luck from range but it was never anywhere near the target.

59mins

FULHAM 3-1 ASTON VILLA. Could be game over now? Hangeland flicks Murphy's corner on at the near post and Kamara is there to audaciously backheel it past Friedel. Great finish!

58mins

Agbonlahor has been unable to escape in behind the back four so far in this half so he tries his luck from range and sends a dipping drive a fraction wide.

55mins

Fulham are the team in control at the moment as they continue to flood forward in numbers with Gera the latest to try his luck from range.

50mins

What was in his teamtalk though was to switch Young and Milner over so Young is now on the right and Milner on the left. Will it have an effect?

49mins

Kamara's strike came after just 26 seconds of the second half - I'm sure that wasn't in Martin O'Neill's team talk.

46mins

FULHAM 2-1 ASTON VILLA. That will do as a start then! Fulham push forward with Nevland and he lays the ball into Kamara who blasts it into the bottom corner. What a start!

46mins

More of the same please boys should have been the message from both bosses, but was it? We are about to find out as the second period gets underway.

45mins

HALF TIME: FULHAM 1-1 ASTON VILLA. What a wonderful half! Both sides have gone for the jugular with committed, attacking football and it has been a joy to watch. Hopefully the interval will not change that!

45mins

There will be one minute of added time.

43mins

Fulham have enjoyed more of the ball, and probably the chances, but Villa are proving to be a real threat on the counter with Young and Agbonlahor in full flow.

40mins

A textbook counter attack from Villa as Young and Agbonlahor sprint the length of the field side by side and Young's eventual shot edges wide of the outside of the post.

38mins

The first caution of the afternoon is handed to Danny Murphy for a cynical trip on Agbonlahor who was looking to break at pace - as ever!

37mins

A short stoppage to the frantic proceedings as Ashley Young has treatment and he looks to be struggling as he re-enters the fray.

34mins

Another headed opportunity for Nevland but again the striker's header is straight down the throat of a well placed Friedel.

33mins

That could have gone anywhere! Konchesky's corner drops at the feet of Kamara whose shot deflects off the heels of Petrov and spins agonisingly wide of the post with Friedel stranded.

31mins

Marvellous stop again from Friedel! The American stopper looks to be on top form today and, in all fairness, he had to be here to deny fellow countryman Dempsey from 20 yards.

29mins

Carew is proving to be an aerial menace once more today, with even 6'7" Hangeland unable to get the better of the big striker.

26mins

Should be 2-1 Fulham! Villa fail to clear Dempsey's cross and it drops to Gera on the edge of the six-yard box but he fires straight at Friedel and Nevland can't quite reach the rebound.

25mins

Superb tackle! Shorey looks to have angled Agbonlahor in on the left channel but Hangeland swings a long leg around the striker to steal the ball in timely fashion.

22mins

Villa play in a contrasting style as they attempt to get Young and Milner involved as often as possible - this time it's Milner but Hangeland holds off the England Under-21 winger.

20mins

Fulham are playing some delightful triangles in central areas as they try to unpick this Villa defence once more - but this time Petrov makes a smart interception on the edge of the box.

17mins

Kamara thinks he is in to make it 2-1 but he has gone a fraction early and the assistant flags him offside. The game is so open, we are in for a cracking afternoon!

14mins

FULHAM 1-1 ASTON VILLA. Clever play from Villa down the right and everyone misses Milner's dangerous cross until Ashley Young steals in front of Paintsil to poke in the equaliser. Great start to the game!

14mins

Great chance wasted! Konchesky overlaps Dempsey yet again and angles a good drilled cross to Nevland but he miscues from ten yards out and the chance goes begging.

12mins

Ashley Young shows the first sign that he could be set to give Paintsil an awkward afternoon as he tricks his way to the byline but Carew's header is poor.

10mins

Fulham are now in the ascendency having taken the lead and Kamara is in behind Davies this time but he skews his shot wide of the far post.

7mins

FULHAM 1-0 ASTON VILLA. Danny Murphy is ice cool as ever from the spot as he slots effortlessly past Friedel.

6mins

Penalty! James Milner pushes Diomansy Kamara in the box and the referee points to the spot - why did he push him? Only MIlner will know.

5mins

What a save! Blistering stuff at the Cottage as Fulham move the ball nicely down the left and Konchesky curls to the far post where Nevland is free but Friedel dives sharply down to his left to make a brilliant stop.

4mins

Agbonalhor with a chance again as he latches onto Carew's flick but he flashes wide with his right foot - not far wide though.

3mins

Poor start from the hosts as they continually gift VIlla the ball and Agbonlahor almost takes advantage as he races into the box, but his shot is tame.

1mins

Mark Halsey is the man in charge today and he gets us underway by the Thames.

0mins

Fulham's joint top scorer Andy Johnson is still absent through injury but Villa are delighted to see Ashley Young and Stylian Petrov come through late tests to start.

Villa though are better on the road, although not lately, thanks to their counter-attacking style but they have fallen out of the chase for fourth and need the points if they are to keep challenging Everton for fifth.

0mins

Roy Hodgson's side have made this place a fortress this season, predominantly as a result of their defensive organisation and the form of goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer.

Welcome to Craven Cottage where Fulham entertain Aston Villa.

Match Preview

Fulham manager Roy Hodgson still believes that his side can qualify for Europe next season, despite their hopes being hit by a 3-1 defeat at Chelsea last weekend.

The Cottagers' task hardly gets any easier this weekend with the visit of fifth-placed Aston Villa, but Hodgson is remaining upbeat on the chances of a first-ever European season for the west London club.

"If we're tenth, I'll be happy. If we finish ninth, eighth or seventh I'll be a darned sight happier," he said.

"Six points could get you in there (seventh), but that's a tough ask. We'd have to average two points a game for the rest of the season and we haven't been doing that all season."

Fulham have picked up seven points from the last possible 12 so have momentum on their side but injuries to key personnel are threatening to derail their season at the 11th hour.

Striker Andrew Johnson and midfielder Simon Davies both missed the Chelsea game and are rated doubtful, while Giles Barnes has already been ruled out for the rest of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Villa's pursuit of fifth place is back on track following Monday night's 1-0 win over Hull City.

John Carew ended Villa's recent bleak run of form with a vital first-half goal to give Martin O'Neill's side their first win in 13 games and only their sixth home success of the season.

"It's great to win again - it's been a long time coming!" said O'Neill.

"We deserved to win the game and we kept a clean sheet for the first time in about five years so that was another positive."

However, O'Neill knows that fifth place is far from secure as Everton are breathing down their necks and, anything other than two wins from their three remaining games, could lead to a sixth-placed finish.

Carew will retain his starting spot ahead of Emile Heskey after the Norway international took his tally to six goals in his last 11 games by netting against the Tigers.

Meanwhile, the likes of Nigel Reo-Coker, Steve Sidwell and Craig Gardner are likely to be left on the bench once again.

Match Report

Diomansy Kamara scored only his second brace for Fulham since arriving two seasons ago and his double strike may well secure European football for the Cottagers next season.

Anybody coming back late at half-time missed Kamara's low rocket that put Fulham in front for the second time.

But his sublime back-heel to guide the ball over the line just past the hour from Brede Hangeland's header had the home side toasting the player who has suffered a torrid time with injuries since he joined the club.

But it was Aston Villa who looked decidedly under the weather as they carved out few chances in what was still a cracking game.

Openings had already occurred out at both ends when Fulham won their early penalty on six minutes.

A slick one-two between Clint Dempsey and Danny Murphy on the edge of the Villa box saw the American just inch the ball into Kamara's path on the left.

The Fulham striker was about to pull the trigger from six yards when James Milner decided a shove in the back was the easiest way to stop him.

Murphy duly notched his fifth goal of the season by firing the spot-kick wide to Brad Friedel's right.

But his team's lead lasted less than eight minutes, even though Erik Nevland fired a fizzer no more than a coat of paint over the bar just before.

Milner made amends with a low cross from the right, but even the Villa winger couldn't believe his luck as the ball was allowed to drift past the entire Fulham defence and find Ashley Young gleefully accepting the gift at the back post.

Villa were soon on the back foot, however, when Zoltan Gera took a touch at the back post and fired high from eight yards to bring an instinctive hand from Friedel.

The Villa keeper had a more comfortable save from Dempsey's long-range drive, but there was no such comfort for Mark Schwarzer at the other end on 40 minutes.

Gabriel Agbonlahor took a rare opportunity to show his speed and burst from deep inside his own half to pull back a centre intended for Ashley Young, made sweeter by a Fulham foot deflecting the ball into his path.

But a point-blank stab against the base of the post was the best the Villa striker could do and the sighs of relief at the home end could be heard all over the ground.

Villa threw on both Emile Heskey and Nigel Reo-Coker to try and rescue the game, but Schwarzer won't get many easier days than this in the Fulham goal.
