Match Preview
Aston Villa caretaker manager Kevin MacDonald may have watched his chances of landing the job on a full-time basis evaporate last weekend, but he will want to get things right against Everton on home soil this Sunday.
Following Martin O'Neill's shock departure just days before the start of the new season, MacDonald was handed the reins for the Villa Park clash against West Ham United.
He got off to a whirlwind start as his side won 3-0, but last Sunday's performance at Newcastle United was nothing short of a shocker.
The Magpies battered the Villans 6-0 in the north east and the Midlanders failed to put up any form of resistance and MacDonald knows they must improve against a well organised Toffees outfit.
Everton, under the fine guidance of David Moyes, will also he disappointed that they didn't see off Wolverhampton Wanderers last Saturday.
They were held to a 1-1 draw and, coupled with their 1-0 loss at Blackburn Rovers on the opening day, the Merseysiders will be striving to get a win on the board.
Moyes will be hoping midfield stars Diniyar Bilyaletdinov, Leon Osman, Marouane Fellaini and Mikel Arteta can come up with the goods while striker Louis Saha is seeking some confidence-boosting goals.
Flying striker Gabriel Agbonlahor (hamstring) looks set to make his first Premier League appearance of the campaign while James Collins (calf) and Carlos Cuellar (hamstring) are closing in on a comeback.
But young midfielder Fabian Delph is missing with a long-term knee injury.
Everton skipper Phil Neville (ankle) is expected to make a return in the coming weeks as is powerful striker Victor Anichebe (knee).
The two sides played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at Villa Park in April.
Tim Cahill opened the scoring for the visitors midway through the first half before Agbonlahor levelled with 20 minutes remaining.
