Aston Villa 2 Burnley 1: A long throw-in is flicked on and Villa get Young clear on the left. He crosses low and early to Downing who controls then shoots right-footed across goal and it beats Jensen and Cort on the line to go in off the far post.
They haven't created any real clear cut chances, but Burnley have made a really good start to this second half. They work space for Cork 30 yards out, but his speculative effort is well off target.

Downing gets space on the left to cross. Warnock overlaps beyond him but he opts to cross left-footed and drags it behind everyone and out for a throw-in on the far side. That was poor from the Villa man.

The confidence seems to be flowing through Nugent since the goal. He did well to make that and always grab one himself. He cuts inside and shoots from 25 yards, but it deflects wide for a corner to the visitors.

Aston Villa will continue their quest for Champions League football when they entertain relegation-threatened Burnley on Sunday afternoon.
Martin O'Neill's side have not won any of their last four home matches in the Premier League, scoring just one goal in the process, but will be confident of victory against what is the worst away side in the league.
Burnley have only picked up one point and have a minus 30 goal difference on their travels this term in the top-flight, and have now failed to score in nine hours of away league action.

Stewart Downing has waited a long time to get on to Aston Villa's scoresheet but the England winger netted twice in two minutes to help his side to a 5-2 thrashing of Burnley.
Burnley were given an early boost when Steve Fletcher opened the scoring but this was cancelled out before half-time by Ashley Young.
Downing then transformed the game with his brace of goals to be followed by efforts from Emile Heskey and Gabby Agbonlahor as Burnley slumped to their eighth successive away defeat.
With the worst away record in the English league Burnley opened brightly by taking a shock tenth minute lead - their first away goal in 9hrs 10mins of play. But was a false dawn as subsequent events highlighted.

A superb move originated by Heskey with a pass to Agbonlaho,r who lobbed a pass into the path of Young who squared the ball to the onrushing Downing to hammer home a low shot into the far corner of the net for his first league goal for Villa.
After waiting so long for this goal, Downing proved it was no fluke two minutes with his second when he picked up a Milner pass, turned and shot with his left foot past a helpless Brian Jensen.
An inspired Downing was on fire and he attempted to grab his hat-trick only to see his effort blocked by the Burnley defensive wall.
But there was no respite for Burnley, as Villa added a fourth goal when Heskey glided home a left-wing cross from Agbonlahor in the 61st minute.
Shell-shocked Burnley were in total disarray and the 69th minute Milner carved open the visitors' defence for Agbonlahor to notch Villa's fifth despite the attention of Clarke Carlisle.
