As usual Jens Lehmann is at the centre of a scuffle as Steven Taylor piles into him and then Eboue, Martins, Gallas and the rest all get involved and strangely Lehmann manages to keep himself out of the controversy.

Newcastle on the break look to be in a dangerous position as the impressive Milner but even he seems to be struggling now as Clichy takes it off him with ease.

This game - much like these two teams seasons - seems to be petering out with neither side really shwing the necessary ambition required to win this one.

Newcastle have started this second half well and Arsenal will need to get themselves going otherwise Newcastle could take the game away from them.

Terrible defending from Arsenal under pressure as six of them fail to clear and it eventually for Duff at an awkward height and he can't get it on target.

Nicky Butt bursts forward from midfield and reaches the byline where he cuts it back for Duff whose close range shot is deflected behind by Gallas.

The home fans are not happy with some of referee Webb's decisions as Ljungberg appears to handle on the half way line and Butt's well timed tackle is punished.

Martins does brilliantly to shrug aside Toure then beats Eboue with quick feet then finds Milner who blazes over with his left foot.

Fabulous trickery from Milner as he flicks it backwards over Clichy's head and the smashes it across goal and is awarded a free kick as Clichy handles.

Eboue is back on the field now and looks to be moving a bit better, although still not particularly freely.

And from the corner Adebayor rises but heads well wide from six yards out when he really should have done better.

And he has stayed down after colliding with the advertising hoardings and looks to have a problem with his knee.

Eboue flying down the line gets to the byline and hs cross is deflected and Harper is forced to tip it over the bar.

Fabregas drives in a free kick from the halfway line that beats all the defenders and Adebayor is inches away from making it one-nil but Harper is able to claim.

It is starting to get going now as Fabregas looks for Adebayor over the top but the Togolese striekr fails to take it down and Given claims.

Here they come again as Duff evades Eboue and shoots low towards the far post where Dyer is coming in but it is to far ahead of him and wide of the goal.

MIlner with a great ball in from the right wing but it is just too high for Dyer at the near post and Gallas beats Martins to it.

But here come Arsenal with Diaby and Fabregas playing a clever one-two and Diaby looks for Ljungberg in behind but his pass is too firm and rolls out of play.

Newcastle have been enjoying a good spell for the last five minutes without threatening again but it looks promising for the hosts.

Now Onyewu at the other end has a chance and forces Lehmann into a superb save in the bottom corner after Emre's scuffed and deflected free-kick finds the American in the penalty area.

Onyewu nearly hands Arsenal a great chance with a poor backpass that nearly allows Adebayor the chance to beat Given to the ball but the Irish keeper just gets there in time.

Toure has a pop from the free-kick which is deflected behind of Emre in the wall for a corner, which the Gunners again waste.

Both sides are just struggling with their final ball at the moment but Arsenal do force a corner, from which they eventually force a free kick in a good position.

Jens Lehmann gets away with a rash decision as Martins flicks it on for Dyer who beats Toure and the German keeper to the ball only to be forced wide and fail to keep the ball in.
