Match Report

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger praised the character of his side after they came back from a goal down to secure a vital 3-1 Champions League victory over Hamburg.

"They scored a great goal and this time we couldn't do a lot about it," he said.

"After that I felt we showed great character and great spirit. Unfortunately we were 1-0 down at half-time but we hit the bar, we made a few changes and it worked out.

"Overall it was a great team performance."

Wenger also admitted that losing the suspended Thierry Henry for the final group match against FC Porto is a blow after the Gunners skipper picked up his third yellow card of the competition against Hamburg.

"That's unfortunate but we know that it will be a good game for us and I'm confident we can do it," he continued.

"He was frustrated because his shirt was held a lot. In the box a lot happened. It's difficult for the referee because he couldn't always see it."
