Match Report

Sven-Goran Eriksson paid tribute to both teams after the thrilling encounter.

"It was a very good match from both sides - but we won and I am very happy about it," he said.

"Argentina are ranked second in the world and they had all their best players here so it is a fantastic achievement by our players.

"We are playing better and better now. It was a very good performance and I am extremely pleased with the victory."

Goalscorer Owen added: "To come back twice was great. It was a cracking game which was full of excitement.

"There was so much more to it than a friendly. Even when they scored their fans and players were going mad.

"It really could have gone either way - they had chances too - and it shows there is not much to choose between the top few teams in the world."
