Midfield concerns for Sheerin Arbroath have midfielders Keith Gibson and Jordyn Sheerin struggling to make their re-arranged game with Queen's Park. The pair are both nursing knocks and defender Alan Rattray and midfielder Steven Doris are definitely ruled out through injury. Despite their 2-0 success over East Stirling last week manager Paul Sheerin was not overly impressed as the sides play a fixture which was originally scheduled for Boxing Day. He said: "It was good to get winning again but I was not happy with how we played, there is more to come from this team. "This has become a really important game as it gives us a chance to put three points on the board and move up the table while other teams are idle." Queen's Park midfielder David Anderson should return to bolster the Hampden side for their trip. However Paul McGinn, Tony Quinn and Giuseppe Capuano are all out through injury, Jack Henry is unavailable and Martin McBride is struggling with a knee knock. The Spiders lost 6-2 on aggregate to the Gayfield men in the promotion play-offs last season, however Head Coach Gardner Speirs reckons those games are meaningless now. He said: "They were only four months ago and we have changed personnel around since then. "There have been more changes at Arbroath as they have changed manager and players so it has no bearing. We were two down there and came back to draw so if we show that spirit again I will be pleased."

Swankie sends Arbroath second Gavin Swankie scored the only goal of the game as Arbroath edged past Queens Park. Swankie almost opened the scoring after 40 minutes but his volley was kept out by visiting goalkeeper Adam Strain. Queens Park should have taken the lead inside the opening minute of the second half when a free-kick from Martin McBride on the right landed perfectly for James Brough, who failed to hit the target with his volleyed shot from 12 yards out. The deadlock was finally broken 13 minutes from time. A foul on James Hamilton by Paul Gallagher resulted in a free-kick which was taken by Paul Sheerin and his cross was guided into the net by the head of Swankie. The goal was enough to secure all the points for the home side and move them to second place in the table.
