Arbroath eye top spot Arbroath boss Paul Sheerin is looking for his men to defeat East Stirling in the rearranged Third Division clash and move to the top of the table for the first time since the opening day of the season. Striker Robbie Ross has left the club to return to Edinburgh City so Sheerin has lisred the same squad defeated Berwick Rangers 4-0 in their last outing. A win would see the Red Lichties move a point clear of leaders Stranraer and the Gayfield boss is determined his men take their chance. Sheerin advised: "With Stranraer losing at the weekend it looks like it was a good day for us, however it will only be a good day if we win the fixture we should have had." East Stirling have doubts. Defender Alex Walker is out following his sending off against Clyde in the league recently and they have doubts over Dean Richardson, Craig Donaldson, Paul Hay and Stephen Maguire, who picked up knocks in the Scottish Cup win over Buckie Thistle. Boss Jim McInally said: "We played Paul Sheerin's side at our place in the league back in November and took the lead early but never held onto it for long enough and that allowed them to run out 3-1 winners. "We are a young side but hopefully we have learned from that experience and can show that if we get ahead at Gayfield."

Eight-goal thriller at Arbroath East Stirling edged an eight-goal thriller as they claimed a 5-3 win away at Arbroath. Kieran McAnespie put the hosts ahead after 23 minutes when he headed home Paul Sheerin`s cross from inside the six-yard box. But the Shire hit back with two goals in 10 minutes, with Scott Johnston drawing the scores level after 28 minutes before David Dunn`s superb long-range effort gave them the lead. Just four minutes later, McAnespie turned provider to set up Alan Rattray for the equaliser, but the goal frenzy was not over and Stephen Maguire put the visitors ahead just seconds into the second half from close range. Dunn`s second gave McInally`s men a two-goal cushion on the hour mark but after Steven Doris was fouled by Craig Tully in the box, he picked himself up to slot home the penalty after 67 minutes. Amazingly, Doris then had the chance to make it 4-4 with another penalty 10 minutes from time, but he missed the target. And he was made to pay just moments later when Stuart Beveridge smashed in a superb shot from 30 yards to secure the win.
