At times there is no pace, desire or ambition shown from either side here. Anzhi the more dangerous in attack and Liverpool must really step it up of they are to salvage something.

Anzhi have picked up, as have the home crowd, and they are pouring forward with purpose, asking questions of the Liverpool defence.

That was undoubtedly the clear cut chance of the match so far, and Jones was more than equal to it.

A great save by Jones denies Eto'o whose powerful shot from outside the box looked destined for the top corner.

Even when Anzhi try to shoot, mainly from outside the box, they are not having much luck getting their shots off because of the amount of defenders throwing limbs in the way.

Logashov breaks into the Liverpool box dangerously from the right wing but good tracking back from Downing nicks the ball and they escape with the ball. Composed defending.

Morgan again tries to turn his man, halfway into the Anzhi half, but it doesn't come off. Nice try though. Impressive start from the youngster.

Let's hope Liverpool's confidence is pricked by that chance and they get at Anzhi a bit more.

Great play from Morgan, who turns his man on the right and plays in Henderson who instead of shooting passes across goal to a defender. Waste of a chance!

Liverpool have picked up the tempo a bit now. Shelvey, Cole and Morgan in particular are making strides.

Eto'o is sitting deeper, with Traore occupying Anzhi's main attacking berth. It would make more sense for the predatory Eto'o to play further up against Liverpool's youngsters, wouldn't it?

This game is still waiting to get going. No particular urgency from either side, it is being played at an almost pedestrian pace.

Traore has the ball in the corner but can't negotiate an escape route, goal kick to Liverpool.

Anzhi are growing into this game and looking dangerous, while Liverpool, for all their possession, look a bit short in attack so far.
