Match Preview

Duo missing for Annan Annan will be without Aaron Muirhead (suspension) and Sean O`Connor (knee) as they look to move into the play-off places with a win against Berwick. Harry Cairney's side bounced back from a three-goal drubbing against Queen's Park last Tuesday to defeat East Stirling 2-1 on Saturday - their first home win since October - and manoeuvre themselves back into the promotion race. Cairney said: "The boys battled back well after a disappointing display at Hampden and it was particularly pleasing to win again at home. "If we end this game with three points and move into third place it will have been a very good few days." Berwick's top scorer Darren Gribben is available after suspension for the trip. However, Paul Currie and David Greenhill are banned. Elliot Smith and Fraser McLaren are both ruled out through injury, but former Hibs youngster Lee Currie will make his second appearance as a trialist in midfield. The Borderers have moved onto the fringe of the promotion race on the back of two wins, but manager Jimmy Crease is looking for more. He said: "Annan is not an easy pace to pick up points. However, if we show the same commitment as we have done recently then we will do well. "We need to put together a run of wins to become a serious contender for promotion."

Match Report

Point puts Annan in the play-offs Annan moved into the Division Three play-off places despite being held to a 1-1 draw by mid-table Berwick at the Galabank Stadium. Bryan Gilfillan, David Cox and Chris Jardine all had good chances to put the home side in front before the Black and Golds finally seized the advantage in the 35th minute through Kevin Neilson. The big defender rose highest inside the penalty area to nod Jardine's outswinging corner past Mark Peat and into the top corner. Gilfillan almost doubled the lead just six minutes later but his ferocious volley from 30 yards bounced back off the crossbar. Berwick substitute Darren Gribben earned his side a point in the 74th minute when he found the bottom corner with a low drive from 18 yards.
