Aitken banned for Annan Annan host Berwick Rangers with player-assistant manager Andy Aitken banned and full-back John MacBeth and striker Graeme Bell both ruled out through injury. The Galabank side now sit five points behind the league leaders but boss Harry Cairney has told his men to focus only on themselves. He said: "We have to go out and win and whatever happens elsewhere happens. "With Arbroath playing a Queen's Park side that are looking for a play-off place I am not sure of what result I want at Gayfield but I definitely want an Annan win at Galabank." Cairney added: "We always have tight games with Berwick and I am expecting this one to be tight as well." Berwick will be without the injured trio of Elliot Smith, Fraser McLaren and Craig O'Reilly for the trip. Midfielder John Grant is rated doubtful due to a knock and the Borderers' faint play-off hopes will end if they fail to win against Harry Cairney's side. Yet boss Jimmy Crease said: "We want to get as many points on board as possible and see where we end up. "Even if we do not get into the Play-offs the players are playing for contracts at Berwick Rangers next season and hopefully that will be enough motivation for an improvement in last weekend's defeat from Montrose."

Borderers snatch points at Annan Promotion-chasing Annan succumbed to a 3-2 defeat at home to Berwick. Berwick striker Damon Gray opened the scoring with 17 minutes played by drilling a shot down the centre of the goal from inside the box after good work from Steven Notman. Gray grabbed his second a minute before half-time by putting the finishing touches onto a neatly-worked move by curling a shot past Craig Summersgill from 12 yards. Berwick opened up a three-goal margin eight minutes after the restart when Darren Gribben pulled the ball back from the right byline for Paul Currie to steer home. Annan pulled one back 10 minutes later when Bryan Gilfillan struck a 20-yard shot beyond the reach of Ian McCaldon after being laid in by Chris Jardine. With 10 minutes left Sean O'Connor drilled in David Cox's cross from inside the six-yard box to give Annan hope but Berwick held on for victory.
