Match Preview

Gilfillan in Galabankies return Annan are boosted by the return of midfielder Bryan Gilfillan from suspension for the visit of Albion. The Black and Golds can move ahead of Rovers in the race for promotion by repeating their 4-1 success over the Coatbridge side from last October. Although Gilfillan is back, Annan will be without full-back John Macbeth who is banned following his red card in the 2-1 defeat by Arbroath in midweek and Neil MacFarlane is expected to miss out through injury. Boss Harry Cairney is not letting the result earlier in the season fool him and said: "Albion Rovers are a decent side so this will be a really tough game. "We have to do better in goalscoring positions ourselves if we are to take anything as we missed a few opportunities when we lost to Arbroath." Albion boss Paul Martin begins a two-game touchline ban. On-loan Motherwell midfielder Peter Innes joins him on the sidelines as he is suspended following his red card in the midweek 2-1 loss to Stranraer. Midfielder Scott Chaplain is a doubt due to a knock. Martin is seeking a clinical edge to his team and said: "I have no complaints with the players about our general play as we are playing well but we just cannot seem to convert our chances into goals. "I am sure our luck will change and I am hoping it begins doing so at Galabank. A win would open up a gap on one of the sides that are also looking for promotion this season."

Match Report

Last-gasp strike saves Albion Christopher Boyle netted four minutes into injury time to secure Albion a 2-2 draw at 10-man play-off rivals Annan. It was Rovers who took the lead 14 minutes in, Steven Lawless latching onto Robert Love's pass to score from 12 yards. They held the lead until the 57th minute when Bryan Gilfillan crossed for Ian Harty to equalise for Athletic from inside the penalty area. The turnaround was complete 20 minutes later as Harty notched his second after being played through by Mark Docherty. That looked to be enough until 92 minutes when Annan's Andrew Aitken was dismissed for a second yellow card. And Albion took full advantage Boyle slotting home with the last kick of the match.
