Match Preview
Duo back for Shots Glen Little and Darren Jones will come back into the reckoning when Aldershot host Southend. Former Burnley winger Little and defender Jones were both rested for the 3-0 Carling Cup defeat at the hands of Watford on Tuesday night but are available for manager Kevin Dillon. Defender Aaron Morris will also be back in the squad and could make his debut after a midweek trip to join up with the Wales under-21 squad to face Malta. Dillon remains without midfielders John Halls (groin) and Jack Randall (broken ankle) but has an otherwise fully-fit squad to choose from. The Shots drew 0-0 at Accrington last weekend and will be looking for a home win to kick-start their promotion push. Southend manager Paul Sturrock is hopeful summer signings Bilel Mohsni and Adam Bouzid will receive international clearance in time to be considered for the trip. Centre-back Mohsni and midfielder Bouzid have been unable to feature for the Blues since arriving at the club but could get the go-ahead from the French and Moroccan federations respectively. The club`s only injury concern is left-back Peter Gilbert, who looks set to sit out once again with an ankle injury sustained against Derby during pre-season. Fellow defender Sean Clohessy returns after missing Tuesday`s Carling Cup triumph over Bristol City with a groin problem. Southend will look to build on their cup triumph by securing their first league win of the season after last weekend`s 1-1 draw at home to Stockport.

Match Report
Morgan fires Shots to victory Aldershot striker Marvin Morgan capitalised on some calamitous keeping from Southend's Glenn Morris to earn their first win of the season in a 1-0 victory. Morgan pounced after 81 minutes after Morris failed to hold on to Antony Straker's first-time shot during a torrential downpour at the Recreation Ground. And it was a frustrating afternoon for ex-Shots front man Louie Soares as he spurned a host of chances while his former strike-partner took the glory. Soares, who joined the Essex club in the summer, went close with two early efforts, before seeing his 26th-minute shot cleared off the line by Darren Jones. A low effort from Morgan after 40 minutes forced a top save from Glenn Morris as the keeper got down well to tip the effort around his near post. It was a similar story for Soares and Southend after the break as the striker got into a great position after 71 minutes, only to fire wide. Morgan's pace had caused the Shrimpers defence problems all day and he cooly tucked home to secure the points.
