Match Preview

Shots without Smith's services Aldershot will be without midfielders Ben Smith and Rob Sinclair for their home clash against in-form Dagenham after the on-loan pair returned to their parent clubs. Smith and Sinclair are back with Crawley and Stevenage respectively for the remainder of the season, forcing boss Dean Holdsworth to turn to his youngsters over the remaining five games of the campaign. Holdsworth's midfield options are further depleted by the continued absence of Josh Payne, who missed Easter Monday's 1-0 defeat at Plymouth with a hamstring injury. Ross Worner (back), Alex Rodman (pulmonary embolism) and Michael Rankine (leg) have been ruled out for the rest of the season. Shots' play-off hopes look to have been extinguished by back-to-back defeats but they will be keen to get back on track against a Daggers side who will be looking to mathematically seal their survival in npower League Two. Dagenham will be without striker John Akinde and defender Charlie Wassmer. The on-loan pair were recalled by parent club Crawley on Thursday just a month into their deals which were due to run until the end of the season. Akinde started Good Friday's draw at home to Burton before dropping to the bench for the Easter Monday win at Gillingham, with Wassmer failing to feature off the bench in either. That means Daggers boss John Still is able to name an unchanged line-up against the Shots as his side look to make it seven matches unbeaten and mathematically secure their Football League status. Fit-again midfielders Luke Howell and Peter Gain both got more minutes under their belts for the reserves on Wednesday and are in contention, but forward Jon Nurse (ankle) misses out again. Still would love to make sure of Dagenham's survival as he prepares to celebrate eight years in charge of the Essex club next Tuesday. The 61-year-old is the longest-serving manager in the Football League and currently fourth in England behind only Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger and David Moyes.
