Match Preview
Fully-fit Shots remember the past Aldershot boast a fully-fit squad as they welcome Bristol Rovers to the Recreation Ground for a match marking 20 years since the demise of the club as it used to be known. Aldershot FC was liquidated on March 25 1992, bringing a sorry end to the club which was formed in 1926, although Aldershot Town was reborn later that same year and five promotions in 16 years saw new-look Town finally make the Football League in 2008. The Hampshire outfit have designated Rovers' visit as a chance to celebrate the original club, with a host of former players in attendance. And a former player could be making his second debut for Dean Holdsworth's side following the capture of Bournemouth midfielder Mark Molesley prior to the close of the loan window last Thursday. Molesley, 31, who will remain until the end of the season, is no stranger to Aldershot having enjoyed a season with them in 2006/07. Shots go into the game fresh having had no fixture at the weekend due to Swindon's involvement in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final, with Wilko Risser having recovered from the knock which forced him to the sidelines against Southend last time out. Bristol Rovers manager Mark McGhee has no new injury or suspension worries as he looks to lead his side to a fifth successive game unbeaten. Goalkeeper Scott Bevan has been nursing a sore groin following the 1-0 victory over Southend at the weekend, but he is not expected to miss the match and will continue to fill in for on-loan stopper Michael Poke, who is not yet ready for competitive action after an ankle problem. Wayne Brown is back in training following his own ankle injury, but the midfielder's target is only to return before the end of the season and he will not feature against the Shots. Defensive pair Gary Sawyer (hamstring) and Aaron Downes (knee cartilage) are definitely out, while Adam Virgo remains a long-term casualty with a knee ligament injury.
