Match Preview

No new worries for Holdsworth New Aldershot boss Dean Holdsworth has no new injury or suspension concerns ahead of the home clash with Bradford. Striker Damian Spencer (knee ligament damage) and midfielder John Halls (groin) remain long-term absentees but new signing Peter Vincenti last week arrived from Stevenage on an 18-month contract. The 24-year-old became Holdsworth's first signing for the club and made his debut in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Bury. Holdsworth is hoping to sign more new players and said: "I'm looking forward to Tuesday. "There may be one or two new faces which could be good - we've shown a lot of effort against Bury and I want to take that and add it to our home form and build on what we've already gained." Bradford pair James Hanson and Shane Duff face late fitness tests. Hanson has been struggling with a knee problem that restricted him to a brief cameo role in Saturday's defeat at Oxford, while central defender Duff missed out at the weekend due to a back injury sustained in the recent home defeat to Barnet. Another centre-half, Steve Williams, and midfielder Tommy Doherty remain sidelined with hamstring and ankle injuries respectively and long-term absentees Simon Ramsden (calf/hip) and Michael Flynn (hernia) are still a few weeks away from contention. Striker Jake Speight is hoping to play a bigger role after stepping off the bench for the final 30 minutes on Saturday. Manager Peter Taylor has no suspension worries as the Bantams bid to get their play-off challenge back on track following back-to-back league defeats.

Match Report

Charles the king for Shots Anthony Charles' second goal of the season meant Dean Holdsworth won his first home game as Aldershot manager 1-0 while condemning Bradford to their third straight defeat. Former Newport County boss Holdsworth had drawn his first game in charge at Bury on Saturday to put an end a four-game losing streak. And buoyed by the new man in the hot seat, the hosts had the better of the first half and deservedly took the lead courtesy of captain Charles' 23rd-minute strike. The centre-back stayed up from a free-kick and looked more like a striker as he chested the ball down, spun his marker and fired a low shot that beat John McLaughlin at his near post. Bradford went close to scoring inside 10 minutes through Tom Adeyemi but then rarely tested Aldershot goalkeeper Jamie Young. The Shots went close to doubling their lead twice through striker Wade Small in the second half and held on to move seven points clear of the relegation zone.
