Albion and Montrose look for edge in tight tussle
Albion Rovers manager Paul Martin has a selection headache of the right kind for the visit of Montrose as he decides what changes to make to a team who have won their last two games.
Hugh Kerr is unavailable as his loan deal with Alloa has ended, however player/assistant manager Todd Lumsden is fit again after injury.
The Cliftonhill boss could also draft in John Gemmell, who impressed as a substitute in their 2-1 win at Clyde, or by fielding any of his three recent loan signings from Motherwell - Steven Meechan, Peter Innes and Steven Lawless.
Midfielder Chris Boyle and striker Marc Pollock remain on the sidelines through injury.
Martin said: "I will have to get the selection right as the games between ourselves and Montrose are very tight affairs."
Montrose have drafted in a goalkeeper on trial for the encounter after Sandy Wood was ruled out with a broken finger.
They have also added midfielder Paul Watson to their ranks for a second time on loan from Forfar.
Player/manager Steven Tweed is still out through injury and he is joined on the sidelines by Hugh Davidson and Terry Masson, with Chris Hegarty requiring a late fitness test to determine his availability.
The games between the sides last season saw only goal scored and Tweed is expecting another close contest, saying: "It will be tight between us but I am hoping that the competition that we now have for places all over the park pushes us on to a result."
Albion too hot for Montrose
Albion Rovers deservedly beat a lacklustre Montrose 3-1.
The hosts started on the front foot right from the off and were two goals up at the break.
The opener came courtesy of Anthony Stevenson`s penalty after 17 minutes, coming when Ciaran Donnelly was felled in the box.
The home side's lead was doubled just five minutes later thanks to a fine strike from Robert Love.
Montrose improved in the second period and only the woodwork denied them from pulling a goal back, Fraser Milligan's right-footed shot beating Derek Gaston but not the post.
Albion then got a third when substitutes Peter Innes and John Gemmell combined with the latter heading home from close range.
Aaron Sinclair's header handed Montrose a consolation goal in the 88th minute.
"Will David Moyes be able to turn it around at Ma..."
