Duo miss out for Albion Albion will look to keep their title dream alive by defeating table-topping visitors Arbroath but will need to do so without the banned Steven Canning and the injured Iain Smith. Steven Lawless needs to shake off a calf knock to play, while striker John Gemmell has only a 50/50 chance of taking part, according to manager Paul Martin. The Coatbridge boss will have a choice to make over who plays in goal as both Derek Gaston and a fit-again Thomas Flynn are available. Martin said: "The two goalkeepers were tremendous in training on Thursday so it will be a difficult call. "A win for us over Arbroath would breathe new life into our title challenge and that is our aim from this game." Arbroath have concerns in defence for the trip. Goalkeeper Darren Hill is suspended, Alan Rattray and Darran Thomson are ruled out through injury and the centre-back pair of Allan McManus and Stuart Malcolm will both need to pass late fitness tests before they can be included. Sheerin said: "We could be a few bodies light in defence but we will just have to get on with things. "I would imagine Albion Rovers will come out all guns blazing to try and get the win that will move them to within three points of us in the table. "We need to be ready for that and use the experience we gained when we won 2-0 down there recently."

Albion close gap with win Third-placed Albion eased to a 3-0 win against table-topping Arbroath at Cliftonhill. Rovers, looking to close the gap to just three points, got their breakthrough as early as the third minute. Albion`s Robert Love was fouled in the box by Darryl Burns and Scott Chaplain made no mistake with the penalty. In the 18th minute, Albion`s Scott Chaplain headed over a free-kick from six yards. Albion forced a sequence of corners, and in the 37th minute found Alan Benton six yards out and he headed home to double Albion`s lead. Three minutes later, an Albion free-kick found Love in the centre of the area and he finished neatly from 18 yards to seal the points.
