Match Preview

McNaughton back for Dons Callum McNaughton is set to replace Jamie Stuart in the AFC Wimbledon side for the visit of Swindon. Centre-half McNaughton has extended his loan spell from West Ham by a third and final month but was unavailable for last weekend's FA Cup draw against Scunthorpe as the Hammers do not want him cup-tied. He provides a straight swap for Dons skipper Stuart, who serves a one-match ban after picking up a fifth booking on Saturday. Winger Kieran Djilali looks set to miss out after going off with a hamstring problem early on against the Iron. Full-back Gareth Gwillim is on the mend after six weeks out with a knee injury but Saturday's clash may come too soon for him. Swindon boss Paolo Di Canio will be boosted by the return of Jake Jervis and Liam Ridehalgh. Striker Jervis, on loan from Birmingham, and full-back Ridehalgh, borrowed from Huddersfield, were not given permission to play in the FA Cup. The Robins trounced Ridehalgh's parent club 4-1 in the first round last Saturday which means Di Canio will be unlikely to tinker too much. Mehdi Kerrouche was a doubt going into that game with a knock but he came off the bench to score and will hope for a recall to the starting XI. Goalkeeper Wes Foderingham should retain his place in goal ahead of Phil Smith. Midfielder Ahmed Abdulla (leg) will not return to action for another week.

Match Report

Connell rescues a point for Swindon Alan Connell claimed to be Swindon's hero after the Robins struck 17 minutes from time to extend their unbeaten run to 10 games with a 1-1 draw at AFC Wimbledon. The 28-year-old former Grimsby striker celebrated after getting the last touch when Jake Jervis' deflected close-range effort flew past Dons goalkeeper Seb Brown. Wimbledon looked destined to record their first win in eight games after Sammy Hatton's own deflected attempt put the home side ahead on six minutes, only for Connell to level late on. The Dons squandered the game's first chance in the third minute, when Jack Midson met Ryan Jackson's inviting centre but could not direct his header on target. Wimbledon were not made to wait long to open the scoring, as Hatton's sixth-minute strike took a wicked deflection on its way past the helpless Wes Foderingham. The hosts were inches away from doubling their advantage when Midson's drew a brilliant fingertip stop from Foderingham. However, the Dons failed to hold out and, after squandering one chance, Connell found himself in the right place at the right time to grab a draw.
