Match Preview

Wimbledon welcome back Wellard Ricky Wellard returns to the AFC Wimbledon squad for the visit of Gillingham. The midfielder missed last weekend's win at Bradford after he was substituted against Cheltenham the week before with breathing difficulties, but he has trained all week and is available. Kieran Djilali, Charles Ademano and Mat Mitchel-King are also back in training but will not be considered. Winger Djilali and striker Ademano have recovered from ankle knocks and defender Mitchel-King has shaken off a shin injury. Mitchel-King, who joined in the summer from Crewe but was sidelined with glandular fever before hurting his shin playing for the reserves, has been pencilled in to finally make his debut against Stevenage in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on Tuesday night. Curtis Weston is set to return to full contention for Gillingham. The midfielder was an unused substitute for last weekend`s 3-1 win over Burton having missed the previous three games with a thigh injury. Weston subsequently got 90 valuable minutes under his belt in Tuesday`s reserve defeat at Fulham meaning that, barring any ill-effects, he will be available to start at Kingsmeadow. However, the Gills remain without defenders Barry Fuller (knee) and Joe Martin (calf), midfielders Danny Spiller (ankle) and Jack Payne (knee) as well as striker Adam Birchall (knee). There was some positive news this week, however, as it emerged Fuller will not need surgery having aggravated his troublesome knee complaint. Gills striker Danny Kedwell, who has found the net four times so far this season, comes up against his former employers for the first time since completing a summer switch to Priestfield.

Match Report

A Jolley good time for Dons In-form striker Christian Jolley struck twice in three minutes to send AFC Wimbledon up to fourth in League Two with a 3-1 win over Gillingham. The 23-year-old former Kingstonian forward netted the winner against Bradford last weekend and continued his red-hot streak with two goals in the opening 12 minutes against the Gills. Jolley put the Dons ahead on 10 minutes and doubled the lead with his fourth goal of the season, before Jack Midson struck and Charlie Lee hit a second-half consolation. Jolley broke the deadlock early on after capitalising on a slip by veteran Gills defender Matt Lawrence to slot home. Just two minutes later he doubled the home side's advantage, powerfully heading in from Sam Hatton's inviting cross. And it wasn't long the visitors were three down. This time, right back Matt Fish was to blame, as his attempted clearance fell at the feet of Midson, who made no mistake from six yards out. Gillingham were much improved after the break, and Danny Kedwell should have headed a consolation goal against his former club. Midfielder Charlie Lee fired home from 25 yards on 67 minutes to reduce the deficit, before Luke Rooney and debutant Jo Kuffour also threatened for the visitors.
