Problems mount for Howe Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has injury concerns ahead of his side's FA Cup first-round clash with League One rivals Tranmere. Shaun Cooper and Michael Symes are ruled out for the visit of Les Parry's men after missing the game at Brentford in midweek. Cooper has been struggling with a calf injury and Symes has a shoulder problem. Howe is hopeful defender Ryan Garry and playmaker Marc Pugh are fit after struggling with injuries. Top scorer Pugh is likely to return to give the Cherries more attacking options while Garry needs to shrug off a knee injury. Lee Bradbury and Harry Arter both impressed against the Bees and will keep their places in the side, while Marvin Bartley is another options at Howe's disposal. Howe does have Adam Smith available after Tottenham gave permission for the on-loan man to play. Tranmere boss Les Parry has been boosted after Arnaud Mendy returned to the squad ahead of the tie. The on-loan Derby midfielder was given permission to return to his native France for a few days for personal reasons but has since returned and has been told he is eligible to play for Rovers by his parent club. Parry is waiting on confirmation from Liverpool that on-loan goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi will be allowed to feature. Rovers' crippling injury list has begun to ease with Alan Mahon, Ash Taylor and Paul McLaren among still sidelined. The Cherries secured a 3-0 league victory at Prenton Park at the end of August but Parry said: "We've got to go there and perform."

McQuoid fires Cherries through Josh McQuoid was the star for Bournemouth as his hat-trick helped the Cherries overcome a stubborn Tranmere 5-3 in the FA Cup first round at Dean Court. McQuoid, goalless in 10 games, put Eddie Howe's side ahead when he tapped in from a yard after 53 seconds, after Liam Feeney's deflected shot had hit a post. Just minutes later McQuoid added his second in spectacular fashion, beating a helpless Joe Collister in the Rovers goal from 15 yards. And with only seven minutes on the clock, Marc Pugh added a similarly stunning third with a curling effort from 25 yards. Bournemouth continued to dominate and had chances for a fourth, but a deflected Aaron Cresswell free-kick after 27 minutes got Rovers back in it. Les Parry's side added an unlikely second just minutes before the break when Ian Goodison rose powerfully to head home from close range. A remarkable comeback was completed after 53 minutes when Shwan Jalal spilt another Cresswell free-kick to allow Ian Thomas-Moore to tap home. But just four minutes later McQuoid completed his hat-trick with a neat finish before Liam Feeney added a fifth with another powerful long-range effort.
