Match Preview

Pirates hit by triple injury blow Bournemouth boss Lee Bradbury has no fresh injury concerns for the game against Bristol Rovers. Warren Cummings started Saturday`s 2-2 draw at Yeovil - a game the Cherries had been winning 2-0 against 10 men - after recovering from a sickness bug and he will continue. Stephen Purches was back on the bench for that match after recovering from a heavy blow to the face sustained at Notts County and he is pushing for a start. Marc Pugh, Steve Fletcher and Lauri Dalle Valle all came on as second-half substitutes at Huish Park and they will also hope for more prominent roles if Bradbury decides to freshen up his side. The Cherries boss told the club`s official website: "There is little time to prepare. We have to remain positive and with three games to go, it`s in our hands. "We know it will be hard against Rovers and we feel we owe them one after the game at their place when we lost 1-0 after having 21 shots in the match. Despite the disappointment against Yeovil, we are confident we can turn in a good performance." Rovers have been hit by a triple injury blow. Jeff Hughes, James Tunnicliffe and Danny Coles are all likely to miss the game with problems sustained in Saturday`s 2-2 draw with nine-man Charlton. Midfielder Hughes broke a wrist in three places, while Tunnicliffe left the field on a stretcher following a challenge by Kyel Reid which saw the Addicks player sent off. The Pirates are now waiting on X-ray results on the defender`s ankle. Fellow centre-back Danny Coles limped out of the action with an Achilles tendon problem, leaving player-manager Stuart Campbell short on numbers for another crucial clash in the club`s quest to avoid relegation. "They will have to recover very quickly," he said.

Match Report

Fletcher turns back clock Bournemouth's veteran player-coach Steve Fletcher stepped off the substitutes' bench to keep alive his side's play-off hopes with a 2-1 win over Bristol Rovers as both sides ended with 10 men. Fletcher, a 55th-minute replacement for Donal McDermott, smashed home Bournemouth's winner three minutes from time. Rovers made the perfect start by scoring in the fourth minute when Gavin Williams set up a shooting chance for Wayne Brown to score. Williams hit the Bournemouth crossbar five minutes later and then came two red cards, one for each side. Bristol Rovers defender David McCracken was the first to go for elbowing Bournemouth defender Adam Smith and then home midfielder Danny Hollands was dismissed for a second bookable offence. Danny Senda should have put Rovers further in front in the 65th minute when clean through with only the goalkeeper to beat, but he lifted his shot over the crossbar. Bournemouth stepped up the pressure near the end and it paid off in the 84th minute when another substitute, Frenchman Mathieu Baudry, headed in a corner from Liam Feeney. Fletcher's moment of glory came with time running out after Rovers goalkeeper Conrad Logan lost possession to Danny Ings.
