Match Preview
Hessey blow for Stanley Accrington are without defender Sean Hessey for the visit of Torquay. The 33-year-old defender collected his fifth booking of the season as Stanley chalked up their first away victory this term at AFC Wimbledon last weekend and must consequently serve a one-match ban. It will be Hessey's second spell on the sidelines through suspension in the current campaign after he was sent off in the 2-2 draw with Plymouth in October. On-loan Blackburn forward Micah Evans will be assessed ahead of the game after picking up a minor knock in training. Evans, 19, marked his Reds debut with a goal in the 2-1 home triumph over Bristol Rovers but has not scored since and last featured against Dagenham at the end of last month. Ian Craney is targeting a return from his broken leg in one of the Christmas fixtures, while Alan Burton remains out following his double hernia operation last week. Defender Brian Saah has been ruled out of Torquay's trip, despite making a remarkably quick recovery from a groin injury. Saah was originally expected to be sidelined for at least six weeks after picking up the knock during the 3-1 victory over Plymouth on November 19, but the club are now targeting the Boxing Day match against Swindon as a potential comeback date for the 24-year-old. Gulls boss Martin Ling will be without captain Lee Mansell, however, as the midfielder serves a one-match ban after accumulating five bookings over the course of the season. Full-back Kevin Nicholson will skipper the side at the Crown Ground, while Ian Morris is likely to take Mansell's place in midfield.

Match Report
Stanley end Gulls run Jayden Stockley scored a wonder goal to extend Accrington's unbeaten run to six league games with a 3-1 home win over Torquay as both sides were reduced to 10 men. Former Birmingham and Hull midfielder Bryan Hughes had given Stanley the lead in the 13th minute with his first goal in three years. Hughes was set up by on-loan striker Stockley and he fired home from 12 yards out via the inside of the post. Accrington bossed the first half with Craig Lindfield going close and captain Andy Procter trying his luck from long range. Torquay, who were on a six-game unbeaten run, forced a save out of Ian Dunbavin through winger Billy Bodin. But six minutes before half-time Gulls striker Rene Howe was shown a straight red card for a late tackle on defender Dean Winnard. The 10 men battled hard after the break but Stanley were looking for a second goal to kill the game off. Lindfield was denied by visiting goalkeeper Robert Olejnik while Stockley had a close-range effort saved. The teenager then got the ball and carved something out of nothing by lifting the ball over Olejnik's head after 62 minutes. Stanley were reduced to 10 men when Luke Joyce saw red for dissent 12 minutes from time. In a lively finish, after 89 minutes, Kevin Long got on the end of a Padraig Amond cross five yards out to make it 3-0 before Torquay got one back in injury time when Chris McPhee fired home from 12 yards.
