Match Preview

Hessey set for Swindon clash Accrington will be able to welcome back Sean Hessey when Swindon come calling to the Crown Ground. Hessey missed Wednesday's rearranged Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie with Tranmere as he was serving a one-match ban, but will now be available for John Coleman's side. Left-back Dean Winnard returned for the Rovers clash after two games out due to an ankle injury sustained against Aldershot at the start of the month. And, having got through the 90 minutes, he should be okay to go again. Defender Tom Bender remains sidelined with the severe concussion that caused last week's original JPT tie with Les Parry's side to be abandoned. The 18-year-old, who is on loan from Colchester, is recovering at home and the club has put no timescale on his return. Swindon will be without goalkeeper Phil Smith and midfielder Ahmed Abdulla. Smith, who suffered a groin strain at Macclesfield on September 30, has had an operation in an effort to aid his recovery and will be out of action for up to four weeks. On-loan Abdulla was involved in a minor training ground incident on Wednesday which left him with a dead leg and swelling to his thigh. The injury is unlikely to keep the West Ham youngster out for more than a few days, but he will not travel with the squad as he remains in Wiltshire for treatment. Abdul Said (leg) is a long-term casualty for the Robins, but otherwise manager Paolo Di Canio has an almost fully-fit squad to select from - including Cristian Montano, who could be handed his debut after moving to the County Ground on a one-month loan from West Ham.

Match Report

Loan rangers seal it for Swindon Loan signings Jake Jervis and Christian Montano helped Swindon to a 2-0 win at Accrington, only the Robins' second league victory on the road this season. Birmingham striker Jervis had a goal ruled out for offside early on, but he wasn't to be denied on 39 minutes when he raced clear of the Accrington defence to beat keeper Ian Dunbavin for his third goal in Swindon colours. The visitors bossed the first half, with Stanley hardly having a shot, and forced Reds boss John Coleman into a double substitution at half time - with Charlie Barnett and Leeds loan man Will Hatfield coming on. Although Stanley livened up, it was Swindon who struck the next blow on 58 minutes. Simon Ferry set up Montano on edge of area and the Colombian, who only arrived from West Ham on Thursday, had the confidence to drill the ball low past Dunbavin for a dream debut. Jervis again raced free and could have added a third but the Stanley keeper dived low to deny him while, the Reds barely tested another Swindon debutant, keeper Wes Foderingham, who arrived from Crystal Palace earlier this week. The win moves Swindon up towards the play-offs, while last season's promotion challengers Stanley are struggling this time around with just three league wins.
