Match Preview

Stanley wait on Long Accrington face an anxious wait over Kevin Long's injury ahead of the visit of Shrewsbury. The on-loan Burnley defender was forced off with an ankle injury in Stanley's 2-1 win at Cheltenham. Manager John Coleman said: "His ankle doesn't look too good. My concern is getting Kevin the best treatment." Sean Hessey came off the bench for his first appearance in a month for Stanley and could be Long's replacement in defence. Defender Leam Richardson returned to full fitness after 18 months plagued by hip and groin injuries to score a volley past the Robins and should keep his place. Winger Chris Turner could be in contention for his first appearance since November after recovering from an ankle injury. Accrington won back to back games for the first time this season and leading scorer Terry Gornell could be the key to a third consecutive win. Graham Turner is hopeful skipper Ian Sharps will be fit for Shrewsbury. The centre-back emerged from Saturday`s disappointing last-gasp 1-1 draw at Barnet nursing a dead leg but looks to be okay for the Crown Ground clash. Should he not make it however then Turner will turn to new loan signing Jermaine Grandison, who only made the bench on at the weekend having met up with his new Shrews team-mates for the first time on the coach travelling to Barnet. Having now had a couple of days to bed in, Turner has confirmed Grandison is definitely now competing for a first-team spot. The Town boss will have to decide whether midfielder Craig Disley can handle two games in four days after making his return from a lengthy hip problem on Saturday, but full-back David Raven (hip) is again set to miss out.

Match Report

Collins at the double in win James Collins scored twice to help Shrewsbury to a 3-1 victory at Accrington - their first win of the year - and moved them up to sixth place in League Two. Collins headed home from a Steve Leslie corner after 50 minutes - his first for the New Meadow outfit since signing from Aston Villa. His second came in the 71st minute when Tom Bradshaw threaded the ball through, the Stanley defence appealed for offside for Mark Wright, but Collins ran onto the loose ball and chipped goalkeeper Ian Dunbavin. Wright wrapped up the scoring with his 11th of the season after 83 minutes when Shrewsbury broke and Bradshaw again provided the assist for the top scorer to fire home from 18 yards. Stanley had taken the lead two minutes after the break when Terry Gornell's 20-yard shot took a deflection which wrong-footed goalkeeper Ben Smith. Stanley searched for the equaliser but both Gornell and Jimmy Ryan could not find a way past the superb Smith before Wright sealed it.
