Match Preview
Coleman has no fresh concerns Accrington boss John Coleman has no fresh injury or suspension concerns for the home clash with fellow play-off hopefuls Port Vale. However, Coleman will again wait on the fitness of Charlie Barnett before naming his squad. The 22-year-old midfielder has missed the last three games with an ankle injury but will be handed a late fitness test to determine whether or not he is fit to face the Valiants. Sean McConville, who has impressed in Barnett's absence, is likely to continue if he fails to recover. Defender Leam Richardson looks set to miss out again with an ongoing groin problem that has seen him miss the last seven games. Stanley will need to secure back-to-back victories if they are to keep up their slim hopes of an npower League Two play-off place. Port Vale could welcome influential defender Gareth Owen back into the fold. The centre-back has been missing for six weeks having strained ankle and knee ligaments in the 1-1 draw at Wycombe. Owen was set to make an earlier than expected return two weeks ago until his knee flared up again, but should he come through training unscathed on Thursday then he is expected to be in contention to line up at the Crown Ground. Manager Jim Gannon again faces a decision as to who starts in goal, with Chris Martin replaced at half-time by Stuart Tomlinson last weekend following his error in handing Oxford a first-half equaliser, a game the U`s went on to win 2-1. Gannon faces more selection posers after describing his side`s performance against Oxford as "tired" and "jaded", opting to use the past few days as a chance to hand some players time to rest and others the opportunity to step up to the mark. Assistant Geoff Horsfield returns to the dugout alongside Gannon after the conclusion of the club`s investigation into their bus row, while captain and leading scorer Marc Richards is looking for one more goal to register his 100th in senior football.

Match Report
Stanley cruise past Vale Two goals in the last four minutes gave Accrington a 3-0 win over the 10 men of Port Vale. Stanley took the lead in the 43rd minute when midfielder Sean McConville received a cheeky back-heel from Ian Craney in the area and fired home his ninth goal of the season. Craney added a late second four minutes from time after Vale had been reduced to 10 men following the dismissal of Sean Rigg. Captain Andy Procter added the third on 90 minutes to make it five successive wins at home for Stanley which has propelled them to the fringe of the play-offs. For Vale boss Jim Gannon, who has won just four of his 15 games in charge of the Valiants, it led to chants of 'Gannon out' by the numerous Vale fans who have seen their side's promotion hopes falter. The Reds had the major chances in the first half with Procter unable to connect with a cross with Stuart Tomlinson stranded and Craney forcing a save out of the goalkeeper. Although Port Vale passed the ball about well they didn't trouble Stanley stopper Alex Cisak, their best first half chance a Kris Taylor free-kick which was just over the crossbar. Craney almost doubled his tally after the re-start but his close-range effort was parried away by Tomlinson while Vale`s top scorer Marc Richards then came close to equalising but headed just wide. McConville could have had a second in a nervy last 15 minutes but Vale's plight was made worse when Rigg was sent off for violent conduct, an elbow on Stanley defender Phil Edwards 10 minutes from time. Craney then added the second when a ball bobbled around the area and fell to the midfielder unmarked on the left and he stroked it beyond Tomlinson. The third came when a Sean Hessey free-kick could only be pushed away by Tomlinson and Procter pounced to tuck home the rebound.
