Match Preview

Boulding set for Stanley return Accrington boss John Coleman will have Rory Boulding available for the home clash with Burton. The 22-year-old has missed the last three games through suspension after being sent off in a reserve-team clash earlier this month. Midfielder Charlie Barnett, who has missed the last two games with an ankle injury, could be available but will undergo a late check before Coleman names his squad. Full-back Leam Richardson remains doubtful with the groin problem that has seen him miss the last six league games. On-loan Burnley defender Kevin Long will retain his place in the squad and will be hoping for some match action following his return to the squad as an unused substitute against Gillingham on Saturday. Paul Boertien is an injury concern for Burton ahead of the trip. Boertien was forced off at half-time during the goalless draw at Stockport on Saturday due to a groin problem. The same injury has seen fellow defender Nathan Stanton miss the last two matches and he remains a doubt. Boss Paul Peschisolido has to decide whether to risk on-loan striker Calvin Zola, who has been out for five games because of a hamstring strain. "Calvin wants to play but we have to be very careful with a soft tissue injury," said the Canadian. "If we bring him back too soon, it will tear again and he will be back to square one. We want to make sure he is 100 per cent right before he plays again." Meanwhile, Albion winger Lewis Young has joined Blue Square Bet Premier side Forest Green Rovers on loan until the end of the season.

Match Report

Stanley move through the gears Accrington Stanley maintained their play-off chase as they heaped more misery on struggling Burton with a 3-1 home win. The Brewers, third from bottom of the table but with games in hand, hardly tested Reds goalkeeper Alex Cisak in a one-sided clash. It was just chance after chance for the mid-table Reds, who have games in hands on the top seven. Jimmy Ryan had Stanley's first chance with a curling 25-yard strike, which had goalkeeper Adam Legzinds diving low to push the ball away. Andy Procter had a 20-yard effort for the Reds which was not far off and the Reds deservedly opened the scoring in the 24th minute when Sean Hessey's free-kick found Terry Gornell. His header was pushed out by Legzinds and Phil Edwards followed up to tap home his 11th goal of the season. Stanley should have had a second when Ian Craney's shot from a tight angle ran just wide of the post, while Sean McConville also went close in the first half. Craney doubled the hosts' advantage three minutes after the break when Legzinds scuffed a backpass to the midfielder and he fired low into the empty net. Brewers boss Paul Peschisolido tried to change it around with a couple of substitutions, but Stanley had the next say. Ryan found captain Procter on the edge of the area in the 67th minute and he curled in a shot into the net beyond the diving goalkeeper. The Brewers grabbed a consolation two minutes from time when substitute Greg Pearson got on the end of Scott Malone's left-wing cross with their first shot on target.
