Match Preview

Coleman set to make changes Accrington boss John Coleman could make changes to his starting line-up for the home clash against Bradford. The Stanley boss has no fresh injury or suspension concerns going into the game but may be tempted to mix things up after two successive draws. Striker Rory Boulding was handed a 24-minute run-out during the goalless draw with Oxford last week and could be given a chance to lead the attack. Midfielder Charlie Barnett, who endured an impressive start to the season before injuries curtailed his progress, may also be recalled. Fellow midfielder Ray Putterill is also an option for Coleman but defender Kevin Long, who has missed a large chunk of the season with a broken toe, looks set to be be among the substitutes again. Stanley are currently outside the play-off places on goal difference and a win could lift them back into the top seven. Bradford winger Kevin Ellison is hoping to return to contention. Ellison, on loan from Rotherham, has missed the last six games due to a thigh injury but could be included in the squad. Midfielder Tom Adeyemi is unavailable though. The 19-year-old missed the midweek draw with Burton because of a similar problem and has returned to parent club Norwich for treatment. Manager Peter Jackson made five changes for Tuesday night's 1-1 draw, with winger Omar Daley, defender Steve Williams, striker James Hanson and goalkeeper Lenny Pidgeley among those hoping to retain their places in the starting line-up. Another, defender Lewis Hunt, was handed a surprise recall against Burton after being told it was unlikely he would play again this season due to contractual reasons and he should continue. Striker Jake Speight is hoping for a recall after stepping off the bench to fire the equaliser in midweek.

Match Report

Three and easy for soaring Stanley Accrington moved into fifth place with a comfortable 3-0 victory over struggling Bradford. James Hanson had a first-minute chance for the Bantams but he fired over the crossbar and, after that, it was all Stanley. The promotion-chasing Reds opened the scoring in the ninth minute thanks to a wonder goal from midfielder Luke Joyce. He controlled the ball on the edge of the area, got the better of defender Jon Worthington and curled his effort into the top corner of the net for his first goal in over a year. Andy Procter doubled the advantage on 16 minutes when Terry Gornell passed to the captain on the edge of the box, and he unleashed a fierce shot to beat keeper Lenny Pidgeley. Stanley came close to a third when Sean McConville set up the in-rushing Ian Craney on the edge of the area but he fired inches wide. The third goal came on the stroke of half-time when a Jimmy Ryan throw was flicked on at the near post by the Bantams defence, and it was an easy finish for McConville to tap in at the far post for his 13th league goal of the season. Bradford upped the pace after the break but never really troubled Reds keeper Alex Cisak with the most bizarre moment of the match. Stanley's Dean Winnard and Jimmy Ryan squared up to each other in an argument over defending and had to be separated by their team-mates. McConville, Craig Lindfield and Joe Jacobson could all have added to the Reds tally but couldn't find the target. Stanley face Shrewsbury on Monday and victory at the New Meadow will mean the Reds will challenge for automatic promotion while Bradford are left battling against the drop.
