Brown expects Hearts to be focused
Craig Brown expects Hearts to leave all their worries in the Pittodrie dressing room when they take on Aberdeen in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.
The Jambos players appeared to shrug off their well-documented and on-going troubles surrounding non-payment of wages to beat Motherwell 2-0 at Tynecastle on Saturday.
The Dons boss believes Paulo Sergio's men, like the majority of footballers, find solace from most problems on the pitch.
"The players will leave their worries off the park," Brown told Press Association Sport.
"For most players, their job is their hobby. Players like to play football and it is the best remedy or antidote for their problems off the field.
"They obviously have worries about not getting paid but playing football is when they will forget them and I expect that to be the same when they play us."
Brown has some worries of his own after Saturday's defeat at Inverness.
The Dons lost 2-1 with Caley's goals coming from corners when the post was unattended.
The former Scotland boss was not for apportioning blame to individuals but insists there will be no confusion against Hearts.
"We gifted them two goals," he said. "It was a very even game and I didn't think a goal would be scored. But we defended abominably and from two corners they got two goals.
"It was a one-off, we don't usually have those problems and it will be sorted for the game against Hearts and for the rest of the season."
Dons midfielder Fraser Fyvie was on the bench for the defeat to Inverness on Saturday but his knee complaint meant it was only for "cosmetic reasons", according to Brown, and he could return against Hearts.
Striker Mohamed Chalali remains a doubt with an ankle injury while midfielder Peter Pawlett serves the second of a two-game ban.
Scott Robinson is enjoying his central midfield role for Hearts.
Results in recent weeks have defied the financial crisis which has engulfed the Edinburgh club, with Robinson playing a key role in the wins over Dunfermline and Motherwell.
Manager Paulo Sergio has suggested he will rotate his squad for the trip to Aberdeen, but Robinson is hoping to retain his place.
The 19-year-old told Hearts TV: "The more games I play, the more I enjoy it and the more I feel comfortable in the team.
"Every game I play I'm getting a bit more confidence."
Hearts right-back Jamie Hamill was taken off on a stretcher with an ankle injury in the 2-0 win over Motherwell on Christmas Eve and is a major doubt to face Brown's side.
Utility man Eggert Jonsson is again likely to be absent after agreeing a move to Wolves on January 1, defender Danny Grainger (groin) and long-term absentees Kevin Kyle, Gary Glen and Suso Santana remain out.
Ror fails in bore draw
New Zealand international Rory Fallon passed up the best opportunity of a goalless encounter between Aberdeen and Hearts at a very blustery Pittodrie.
The Dons striker should have headed home Scott Vernon's cross after 15 minutes but somehow put the ball wide from close range.
Ryan Jack also went close for the hosts with his shot well saved by Marian Kello, but the fierce winds were far from conducive to good football and goalmouth action was subsequently at a premium.
The Dons made two changes with Darren Mackie and Fallon preferred to midfielder Chris Clark and striker Josh Magennis, while winger Peter Pawlett served the second game of a two-match ban.
Hearts, who were missing the injured Jamie Hamill, also shuffled their pack with five changes to the side that started the 2-0 win over Motherwell.
Darren Barr came in to replace Hamill, while there were also starts for John Sutton, David Obua, Andrew Driver and Rudi Skacel.
Ian Black, Stephen Elliott and Mehdi Taouil all dropped to the bench, while Scott Robinson was a notable absentee.
The game started in a scrappy manner with both sides struggling to adapt to the testing conditions.
The visitors carved out the first openings with Sutton seeing his deflected shot drift out for a fruitless corner before David Templeton fired over from the edge of the box.
Youl Mawene picked up the first booking of the match after 13 minutes for ending Marius Zaliukas's rampaging run with a crude challenge.
The Dons should have opened the scoring two minutes later when Fallon somehow headed wide from six yards out with only the goalkeeper to beat.
Hearts almost capitalised when Aberdeen goalkeeper Jason Brown's attempted clearance into the ferocious wind could only reach the edge of his own area, but the Welshman redeemed himself by saving Sutton's left-foot volley.
Aberdeen created a decent opening at the other end just before the break when captain Richard Foster skipped past two defenders before finding Jack, whose shot was well saved by Kello.
Hearts made a change at the break with former Inverness Caledonian Thistle midfielder Black introduced at the expense of Skacel.
The Dons went painfully close from a well worked free-kick after 54 minutes when Kari Arnason drilled a low shot into the side-netting from 25 yards.
The hosts, who brought on Clark for Mackie after 64 minutes, were looking the more likely to take the lead but were too often let down by their final pass.
Arnason's long throws into the box had looked Aberdeen's most promising route to an opener, but the Hearts rearguard coped admirably with the threat.
Both sides, cheered on by the 9,210 fans who had braved the weather, pressed for a winner late on and it was the Dons who almost stole all three points only for Milsom to miss the target with a downward header from Jack's cross in the final minute.
