Love at the double Vagner Love scored twice to lead CSKA Moscow to a convincing 3-0 victory over Lausanne in their Europa League Group F opener. The Brazilian's brace, the second of which was from the penalty spot, came either side of a Sergei Ignashevich header, to sink the Swiss outfit and put CSKA top of the group. Lausanne had gone into the game hoping to extend their stranglehold over Muscovite opposition, having already beaten Torpedo Moscow and Lokomotiv Moscow in European competition in the past, but they never looked like doing so in a one-sided game. The Russians started brightly with Mark Gonzalez forcing goalkeeper Anthony Favre to tip his drilled shot round the post and Pavel Mamaev seeing his effort blocked by Guillaume Katz. Katz got his body in the way again to block Alexei Berezutsky's header from a Zoran Tosic corner from the left before the visitors made their pressure count in the 22nd minute. Love, who had a loan spell back in his homeland with Flamengo earlier this year, directed a header low into the centre of the goal to break the deadlock. Favre was called into action again when Alan Dzagoev met Georgi Schennikov's cross before his opposite number Igor Akinfeev was tested for the first time three minutes before the break. Rodrigo Tosi let fly with a shot from the left channel which the Russia international did well to stop with his feet. That was a rare moment of promise for the home side, though, who found themselves 2-0 behind in the 68th minute. Tosic, having won a free-kick on the right wing following a foul by Nicolas Getaz, sent the set-piece into the area for Ignashevich to head high into the net. And CSKA put the game to bed with a third in the 82nd minute. Love converted a penalty for his second of the match after the influential Tosic was fouled by Michel Avanzini. Lausanne almost grabbed a consolation late on through Tosi, but his right-footed effort was parried by Akinfeev.
