    Live Commentary

    92mins

And there goes the final whistle.

    92mins

A break from Monterrey as Chelsea are left short at the back. De Nigris cuts inside from the right wing, goes for goal himself and beats Cech neatly.

    91mins

I'm not expecting too much excitment in these final two minutes.

    90mins

Two minutes to be added on.

    89mins

Manchester United are the only English side to be crowned Club World Champions. Can Chelsea emulate them on Sunday?

    88mins

There's been some sloppy passing from both sides in the last 15 minutes.

    87mins

Lampard turns well and is always going to shoot from 20+ yards. It may as well have been 20+ yards over.

    86mins

Monterrey just haven't had the composure or quality in the final third to trouble Chelsea.

    85mins

Moses almost gets in through the centre, fine last-ditch tackle from Basanta

    84mins

Moses beats his two men on the right but can't pick out a team-mate and he sees his cross headed back out by a defender.

    83mins

Final two changes for Monterrey. Abraham Dar'io Carre~no and Edgar Sol'is on for Severo Meza and C'esar Delgado

    80mins

Victor Moses will get 10 minutes in place of Fernando Torres.

    79mins

Basanta looks to be struggling from that challenge, he's be wanting to complete the game and play on Sunday too.

    78mins

    Foul by Ferreira on Basanta.

    77mins

This is the last year of Paulo Ferreira's contract, and with Wallace arriving in the summer you would presume this is his swansong season.

    76mins

The corner it eventually worked into the box at the far, and Corona is free but can only blast a shot way up into the night sky.

    75mins

Paulo Ferreira comes on for Juan Mata

    74mins

De Nigris is picked out in the area, his first touch opens up space for the shot but Cahill does well to get in a block - corner.

    73mins

Chelsea now preserving their energy for Sunday's final against Corinthians.

    72mins

Again a threaded pass is too heavy, this time for De Nigris, and Cech takes possession.

    70mins

Shot from Delgado from inside the D, but no worry for Cech who collects low down to his left.

    69mins

Nice to see Monterrey goalkeeper Jonathan Orozco wearing a pair of old school jogging bottoms.

    67mins

Cardozo tries to feed in Delgado through the centre - the pass was on but it's too much on it and Cech can watch it behind for a goal kick.

    66mins

Monterry will still have another game to play here, they will face Al Ahly in the 3rd/4th place play-off first up on Sunday.

    61mins

Coming soon: Super Frank, Super Goals.

    60mins

You can't see anyway back into this game for Monterrey now, they are way too fragile at the back to be able to pour forward and get three without reply.

    59mins

Cardozo is not happy as the offside flag goes up against him, he was ready to run at Azpilicueta

    58mins

Sergio Perez is replaced by the experienced campaigner Ricardo Osorio

    57mins

The corner comes in from the right, Cahill can't get proper purchase on the header and eventually Monterrey clear.

    56mins

Mata plays in Torres on the right of goal - it's a horrible first touch from the striker which takes the ball away from him but Chelsea still end up with a corner off the defender's shins.

    55mins

Corona has the measure of Azpilicueta again, but this time it results in a corner. It comes in from the left, De Nigris is free and seems certain to score - Cech keeps it out.

    54mins

Not sure if Torres will actually keep the first goal as it was definitely going wide before being deflected in. One for FIFA to decide.

    53mins

Oscar feeds in Mata, who is through but fires into the side-netting - he was offside anyway.

    52mins

Chelsea running riot at the moment, though that does mean we are likely to face a lethargic last quarter of the game.

    51mins

David Luiz shoots from outside the box and the keeper has to palm away down low rather than hold.

    50mins

What a start to the second half this is, and in between those two goals Monterrey also had a break into the Chelsea box.

    49mins

Torres finds Mata with a superb ball with the outside of his right boot - for some reason Mata passes back across the face of goal rather than shooting only for the ball to get tangled in Ch'avez's feet and roll into the goal. 0-3

    47mins

Cole makes a run down the left, cust the ball back for Torres who sees his shot take a massive deflection to leave the keeper with no chance.

    46mins

    Chelsea kick off.

    45mins

One minute to be added on.

Mata takes, it goes over all the blue shirts and Monterrey can work it away.

    45mins

Corner to Chelsea right on half-time.

    44mins

Chelsea enjoying some possession at last, time to start keeping the ball a bit more.

    42mins

Much better from Monterrey, they just need to be more clinical in front of goal. A shot on target would be a start.

    41mins

Ayovi takes his turn on the left flank up against Azpilicueta. Again it's a poor cross - fired straight out of play.

Foul by Meza, Mikel tripped on the half-way line.

    36mins

I wish I could report more was happening in this game right now.

    35mins

This has allowed Monterrey, but whether they have the ability to open up Chelsea is another question.

    34mins

This now has the feel of a pre-season friendly, Chelsea's high-tempo game of the last 20 miniutes has subsided.

    32mins

    Stat:

    30mins

Mikel has a rare shot on goal from 30 yards but unsurprisingly it's always going wide

    28mins

Better from Monterrey there, Corona switched to the right to take on Azpilicueta.

    27mins

Monterrey break from that, Corona does well to get past Azpilicueta - his lofted ball to the near post is met by the head of Cardozo, but he can't nod it on target.

    26mins

Foul by Oscar on that very man, Ayovi.

    25mins

    Stats:

    24mins

Frank Lampard is on the bench for Chelsea today, and will hope to make his second appearance since being injured against Shakhtar two months ago.

    23mins

It's certainly been a mismatch so far, Monterrey are going to have to improve considerably to meet Corinthians in the final on Sunday.

    21mins

Chelsea break well again but Mata is caught in a moment of indecision, his eventual pass too heavy for Torres and out for a goal kick.

    19mins

Foul by Sergio, a free-kick over by the left corner flag.

    16mins

Mata almost manages to feed Torres in through the centre but for a last-ditch interception.

    15mins

    14mins

The corner comes in from the left, Ivanovic gets there first six yards from goal and somehow sends it wide. That should have been a goal.

    13mins

Awful defending from Meza as he miscontrols on the edge of his own box almost lets Oscar in with a chance - he gets back to toe the ball behind for a corner.

    12mins

The corner comes in from the right once again, this time Chelsea clear.

    11mins

Delgado takes the corner to the edge of the six-yard box, Basanta goes for it but Cahill is there to head behind.

    10mins

Delgado shoots from 25 yards and it's deflected behind for a corner.

    9mins

Brilliant from Hazard, skipping past two on the left and picking out Oscar in the centre - for some reason he tries to chest the ball down rather than head towards goal and he loses it.

    8mins

De Nigirs gets forward for Monterrey, his shot on the angle effectively a back-pass to Cech.

    7mins

It's all Chelsea in the opening exchanges, the European Champions well on top.

Ooooh! Good effort from Luiz who moves the ball forward but hits it over the bar - close

    3mins

Monterrey have already played a game here, beating Ulsan Hyundai 3-1 in Sunday's quarter-final. Will that make any difference?

    2mins

Mata with an early chance for Chelsea, his shot on the angle easily blocked. The ball comes back in but Torres had no hope of directing a header towards goal.

    1mins

    It's Monterrey who kick off.

    Match Preview

A week after becoming the first holders of the Champions League to be knocked out in the group stage – Chelsea and Rafael Benitez go in search for their first piece of silverware this season – the FIFA Club World Cup Title.

Chelsea have never played in this competition – but interim manager Rafael Benitez knows exactly what the competition is about. He took Inter to the final and won it in 2010 – whilst hisLiverpool side lost out to sao Paulo in the final after their 2005 Champions League success.

This week away will do wonders for Chelsea Football Club. A week's travel to Japan with the incentive to win their first trophy of the season – as well as being able to escape the attention of the English press after an Autumn to forget.

After back to back wins against FC Nordsjaelland and Sunderland – in which Fernando Torres has scored four goals- Chelsea will look to carry their momentum to Japan.

The Blues arrived with a happy Fernando Torres and much attention has been paid on how Chelsea and Benitez will finally get the best out of Fernando, and it seems to be working. Chelsea's more direct and penetrative passing has seen Torres score 4 goals in his last 2 games.

    Match Prediciton: Chelsea Win

Monterrey play neat, passing football through the middle to get crosses in. That may not get too much joy from a Chelsea defence marshalled by Gary Cahill. The English defender will be joined with Bransilav Ivanovic at the back – with David Luiz reportedly making the transisiton into a holding midfield role.

Mata, Hazard and Victor Moses will continue to play behind Torres as the lone man – with Victor Moses looking impressive in recent weeks. Ramires will either be joined by Luiz or Mikel in the midfield. The Nigerian is currently serving a domestic ban in the Premier League – but will be welcomed back into the Chelsea side tomorrow.

Ashley Cole and the impressive Cesar Azpilicueta will join Cahill and Ivanovic at the back – whilst Petr Cech captains the side.
