Match Report
Zat Knight ended Bolton's goal drought to seal a vital 1-0 victory against relegation rivals Wolverhampton at the Reebok Stadium and lift Owen Coyle's side out of the bottom three. The big defender's tap-in in first-half injury time was Wanderers' first goal in more than nine hours of Premier League football. Wolves twice rattled the woodwork in the second half as they searched for an equaliser, but Bolton held on for their first league win in six games and only their second under Coyle. The Trotters manager made six changes to the side which crashed out of the FA Cup against Tottenham in midweek. And one of those, Johan Elmander, wasted the game's first chance when he shot tamely at Marcus Hahnemann from the edge of the area after a slick Wanderers move. The Swedish striker forced Hahnemann into action again with a snapshot before wasting an even better chance on the half-hour mark. Hahnemann saved bravely at Kevin Davies' feet after he pounced on Christophe Berra's mistake, but Elmander should have buried the rebound, only for his effort to be cleared off the line by Jody Craddock. After saving a certain goal the Wolves defender then saw his header from Dave Jones' corner hit Fabrice Muamba on the goal-line. And, in first-half injury time, Wanderers took the lead. Chung-Yong Lee retrieved Stuart Holden's corner and, after beating Jones on the byline, squared for Knight to slot home from close range. Wanderers should have been awarded a penalty seconds after the restart when Ronald Zubar clearly handled in the area. And Davies wasted another golden opportunity moments later after Muamba had sent him through on goal. Wolves came within inches of equalising on 59 minutes when Jones' curling free-kick hit the inside of the post with Jussi Jaaskelainen well beaten. Sam Ricketts then produced a goal-saving challenge to deflect Matt Jarvis' shot over the bar after the Wolves winger burst into the area. And the visitors must have known their luck was out when Kevin Foley's dipping volley crashed against the upright soon after.

Change for Wolves now as Sylvan Ebanks-Blake replaces the ineffective Adlene Guedioura.

Jarvis sparks back into life with a superb driving run past Steinsson who appears the clip the winger as he bursts into the box and although he gets his shot off he will feel a little aggrieved at not getting the spot kick.

A bit of a lull now with the game becoming a bit scrappy as both defences resort to hoofing it away.

Change for Bolton now as Johan Elmander is replaced by Ivan Klasnic.

Yellow Card

Turns out Henry was not booked in the first half as he is booked for dissent now and does not get a red - apologies for the confusion.

Bolton straight onto the front foot with Davies taking a shot that is well saved by Hahnemann.

Second half

The second period is underway - can Wolves force themselves back into it?

Half time

HALF TIME: BOLTON 1-0 WOLVES. Great half! Bolton have forged ahead with basically the last kick of the half but its been a very even half and both keepers have been busy.

Goal

BOLTON 1-0 WOLVES.Lee to the byline and and Zat KNIGHT is on hand to sidefoot Bolton into the lead in first half stoppage time.

43

Kevin Doyle forces another good stop from Jaaskelainen and Bolton are straight up the other end with Wilshere denied by Hahnemann.

40

David Jones is definitely the Wolves danger man today and his speculative long range drive bounces awkwardly in front of Jaaskelainen who does well to save.

37

Lee's cross from the right hand side looks like finding Elmander but Hahnemann dives out to make a superb interception.

36

How is this 0-0? Wilshere bursts into life in the centre of the park and fires wide of the target from long range.

35

Holden's free-kick is missed by everyone and Hahnemann sees it late but does well to tip wide of the post.

33

Best chance for Wolves! That man Jones plays a delightful ball behind the back four for Doyle but his effort is well saved by Jaaskelainen.

32

How did that stay out?! A corner is headed goalwards by Davies and Hahnemann saves but Muamba hits the follow up for Craddock to clear off the line before the same player fouls Henry and Wolves escape.

30

Bolton are starting to really come into the game now with Holden finding room in the midfield to orchestrate and Wilshere's shot is parried over by Hahnemann.

Elmander again with a superb opportunity as Bolton open Wolves up and his low fizzing shot forces a superb stop from Hahnemann to his left.

24

Wolves give the ball away sloppily to Holden inside their own half and the midfielder slices inches wide of the post.

22

As we reach the halfway point in the first half it has to be said that Wolves have looked the more likely but the Trotters defence are holding firm.

19

Lee is definitely the Trotters best player so far and the Korean cuts inside the full back but his shot is woeful and goes out for a throw.

Great chance! Davies and Lee combine well to slip Elmander in behind but his shot from the edge of the box is to weak and Hahnemann gathers.

First half chance for Bolton now as a long throw is only headed away as far as Muamba but his volley is not struck brilliantly and Hahnemann can collect it well.

11

More superb play from Wolves with Jones at the heart of it again and Doyle forces a good diving parry from Jaaskelainen.

9

David Jones looks very lively at the moment and he breaks the offside trap but Steinsson defends superbly to tackle him from behind and stop the danger.
