Arsenal held in bore draw

Arsenal failed to secure the victory that would have boosted their hopes of reaching the Champions League knockout stages in a drab goalless draw with Marseille.

The visitors came close on several occasions in the first half thanks to their free-flowing attacking play, although such chances all but dried up after the break.

The same could be said for Arsenal, with only substitute Robin van Persie testing Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda in the second period.
