The long-running saga of Mansfield Town's proposed takeover could finally be completed this week.
A deal between current owner Keith Haslam and a group of local businessmen fell through at the last minute on Friday, but there remains hope that the takeover will be revived.
Stags chief executive Stephen Booth told The Chad: "The broad terms of the proposal have been agreed and there's still potential for this to be resolved this week.
"We all hoped it would be done (on Friday), but then one of the group's backers decided that the deal wasn't for them, for whatever reason.
"But I want to stress that doesn't mean the deal is dead at all. On the contrary, it is still very much alive and it's a matter now for those who tabled the bid to regroup."
